  • State of the Game

The NRL has just released it's 2018 State of the Game survey. While I would have preferred some free text fields to express some of my thoughts, the questions asked will still give you an opportunity to voice your opinion on a few areas of the game that need work IMO.

I encourage you to have your say.

    Agree with your comments.

The survey is set up to receive a fixed range of answers that the NRL can manage.

they don't want independent critiques of the game - even if it is constructive.

I hardly watch it any more, it's so stage managed by the refs.

        BS.
Did the greatest team not win this year? Did the second best team not come second?
Did the top 4 deserve their positions on the ladder.? Did the top 8 deserve their positions on the ladder?
Did the worst team finish last?

My point is that it all evens out in the end.

Typical NRL survey! They don't ask for our opinions on the rules or how the game should be played because they are either not interested or assume we LOVE the current rules! They assume an awful lot! They assume we are all obsessed with having the game faster and faster (yet it is because of the speed of the game that we have wrestling, so many sin-bins, play-the-ball errors, stupid quick taps which achieve nothing and players don't understand the rules of, etc). There have been so many needless rule changes in the past 5-10 years. Shot clocks do nothing except give everyone a fright when they go off, and they're asking if we want more! They don't ask if we'd like to ditch it! They don't ask if we'd like to ditch seven tackles, quick taps or experiment with reducing the ten metre rule to stop wrestling.

i agree for all the ups and downs refereeing wise ...the best team won, second best came second, the top4 and 8 were clearly better then the bottom 8, and parra and manly were probably the worst 2 teams in the comp ...they finished 15 and 16 so you cant argue with that,
