  • Highlights of the Roosters 2019 Draw

    Sydney Roosters

Teams they play twice: Rabbitohs, Broncos, Storm, Dragons, Wests Tigers, Raiders, Knights, Panthers, Bulldogs.

Teams they play once: Sea Eagles, Eels, Sharks, Cowboys, Titans, Warriors.

Day-by-day breakdown: Thursday - Three, Friday - Seven, Saturday - Six, Sunday – Eight.

    Five-day turnarounds: 2 (Rd 10, Rd 25).

Kick-off: The 2018 premiers kick off their campaign to become the first team in more than 25 years to successfully defend their title by going up against South Sydney at the SCG. The Roosters, who will play home matches at the ground in 2019 while Allianz Stadium is being rebuilt, also take on Brisbane at the famous venue in round four after road trips to Manly and Parramatta.

Toughest stretch: Rounds 4-8. The Roosters will want to hit their straps early in 2019 because they have five tough games in a row starting less than a month into the season. In round four, they host Brisbane – a club that downed the premiers twice in 2018 – then travel to Cronulla before heading to Melbourne in round six before two home games against the Dragons and the Wests Tigers – a team that gave them plenty of trouble last season despite not making the top eight themselves.

And another thing: Grand final star Cooper Cronk will finally get a chance to play at his old home ground of AAMI Park as an away player. Last year the eventual grand final combatants met just once through the regular season, in Adelaide. The fixture in the South Australian capital is on again with the Tricolours set to host the Storm in round 15 but they also travel to Melbourne in round six for a Friday night blockbuster which also shapes as a grand final rematch.

Aaaand for about the millionth season in a row we don't play an away game at the Cowboys. My interstate membership really is a donation and statement of loyalty because the 2 tickets never get used!

Also I see we have our Magic Round clash at Suncorp on Sunday and then follow it up with a Broncos clash at Suncorp 5 days later where as they get the full 7 day turnaround.

      Pretty standard.

I imagine we'll be up there for 10 days.

Draw seems to have 4 games at SCG all before Round 10

1 home game is at Central Coast against Cowboys and home game against storm is TBA but I assume they are planning to take to Adelaide

Other than the Storm game we have an additional 5 TBA grounds...is there scheduling clashes at the SCG? or are they wanting to take more games elsewhere? Be interesting how the club explain this (if they do)

Also does the magic round in Brisbane take a home game from us?

We also play our Origin interrupted game against the Tigers.

Is it just me or do we always face teams totally unaffected by Origin in these rounds? Warriors, Raiders, Tigers...

trying to keep some parity in the NRL ladder, its not good for business if we win the minor premiership with a month left to go in the season.

Some times that works out ok. Look at last season....most teams would have been hoping to play Parra and the Cowboys only once after their previous years efforts

We had to beat the top 3 teams on the ladder to win the premiership, so it doesn’t matter who we play once or twice, we still have to beat whoever is on the field on the day. I don’t care if it’s a so called strong or dud team, if we’re good enough we win. There’ll be losses during the year, but it’s no reason to slash wrists or lose sleep.

As suspected Swans have not released their draw and have priority of SCG over us

More games could be added to Central Coast Stadium

Roosters website article seemed to have skipped explaining this possibility...most be lots of fingers crossed that they don't have to explain less games in Sydney to members who have already committed

Central Coast is actually the same distance if not closer for me and its a great ground but I imagine this could upset fans

Interesting situation they have got into with the Central Coast game that exists now not being included in the membership

If more games are added to Central Coast are those ones included? Except for the one they have already committed to? I imagine that paying for a membership they would surely have to guarantee the 9 games they said were included are still included

This will get messy though, many Sydney members paid with a set number of games in mind to be played in Sydney.
