The Bears announce return of two players for 2019!






The North Sydney Bears are excited to welcome back Brad Deitz and Kurtis Preece to the Club for 2019.

Deitz spoke of his excitement to rejoin a the Club, “I’m very happy to back with the Bears for 2019. The Club is building towards a big year with the new Roosters partnership, Jason Taylor coming on as coach and our pathways providing opportunities for up and coming players. This Club has a great culture and I can’t wait to be back at North Sydney Oval.”

ISP Head Coach Jason Taylor spoke of the signings, “Brad was captain in 2017 and it is great to see him returning to the Bears after a year away from the Club, he will provide valuable experience and leadership.

Kurtis was obviously a stand out player for the Bears Flegg side last year and was rewarded by being named the Players Player for 2018. I look forward to seeing him take the next step in 2019.”

Kurtis spoke about his re-signing with the Club, “I’m proud to sign with the Bears for 2019. I’m excited about the challenges of taking the next step in my footy career and getting the chance to work with Jason Taylor who’s had a lot of NRL experience both as a player and a coach.”

The Bears will be announcing player signings fortnightly over the off-season.

Most of that list are Vermin tainted and the Vermin will take them for their own team. Not that any of them will be a great loss.

Sorta surprised Vinnie Leuluai hasn't progressed. Would love to take him back but guessing he is on a South Sydney contract not a Norths one.

The North Sydney Bears are excited to announce the signings of Sean Sabutey, Honeti Tuha, Nick O’Meley and Tom Freebairn.
ISP Head Coach Jason Taylor spoke of the signings, “We are very happy with the signing of these four players. Sean was the Club Player of the Year for the Bears last year and we will be hoping he can pick up where he left off.
Honeti is an 89 game veteran in the ISP and gives us some fantastic versatility as he can play centre, wing and fullback and knows how to find the try line.
Tom is entering his third season with the Bears and will provide strong defence in our forward pack in 2019. He was selected in the NSW Pioneers v QLD Rangers Ron Massey representative game last year and will continue to push for higher honours with the bears.
Finally, Nick, son of Mark O’Meley, has been in the Roosters system for the past few years. He is at home on the wing or at fullback and played a few games for Wyong ISP last season. It’s fair to say his fleet footed running style on the wing is a little different to his straight running father.”

sharpe and williams are contracted to wyong, not the roosters, frei went to the warriors and i think gray was released

I think Ben Thomas is also Wyong. Brendan Frei did not go to the warriors he went home to QLD agter being released. His younger brother went to the Warriors

It'll be an interesting relationship because the Bears see themselves as being an NRL club within 5 years... not a reserve-grade club.

I dunno if these ambitions will be good or bad for us. I mean it could be awesome to see a reserve-grade club that could give a few NRL teams a run for their money. However, they sign players for themselves (e.g. their play at Carney) and are activists about it. Not saying it's bad but it'll be an interesting dynamic!
