  • Thank God we don’t have former Australian Capt Cam Smith at our club

Bought a champion in Cronk. On/off field.

always been a stench around Smith from salary cap, Alex McKinnon incident. Now reporting his greed demands 2 year extension at $1m per season.
munster unsigned pending this negotiation. 2 others including Kassiano now unaffordable likely to be let go.

Australian Captains usually have “team first” mentality. Poor

To be fair one could flip this as:
      - WTF does Munster deserve the same salary as a dude who will certainly be an immortal? He lost the Storm any chance of winning the GF by having 2 massive brain snaps, one of which involved kicking a rising Kiwi star in the head out of sheer frustration (clearly demonstrating his lack of grit/maturity). Say what you like about Smith... I hate him... but he has the runs on the board. Remove Smith + Slater and I reckon a Munster-led Storm will not make the 8. Remove Munster... a Smith led Storm will still make the 8 with Croft and Jacks in the halves. Smith makes Munster look better than he is! Move him to Parra and he'd be a talented but immature, hot headed kid who certainly ain't up to rep standard. Nup. Not worth $1M a year.
      - Kasiano's a forward who has been poor despite losing weight and following Bellamy's instructions. I doubt re-signing him is a priority for the Storm. He's a failed development project. Can you get a fat lazy guy, shave off the fat and turn him into an 80 minute enforcer under the watchful eyes of Bellamy rather than a BS, failed coach? Not in this case. Doubt the Storm are keen to upgrade his contract.
      - Cameron Smith Pty Ltd is not a charity. He's seen Cooper Cronk Pty Ltd get a premiership and $1m a year and wants his share of the pie. Rightfully so!

i hate smith , but yea i think he is right to demand that, best hooker / game manager ive seen and it is not close. i don't need to be told he did f all in the grand final , but overall his resume is pretty damn impressive , he is probably happy to retire now and if he gets the money it is a bonus

A period of "top 8 maybe, but possibly not at all" for the Storm coming up.

            How sad.

I actually reckon that Smith wanting an extra year's money and Munster not yet re-signing are unrelated.

Munster being the character he is, I'd be more inclined to think that something has happened in the background which has the Storm thinking twice. Not that they would admit that. But it is the off-season and the bloke likes to enjoy himself.

Smith may be one of the 3 greatest players I've seen play the game but he really lacks integrity.

He absolutely ruined QLD's preparation by retiring a week or 2 out from the team announcement. Was one of the most disgraceful acts from a captain you'll ever see.

He had no choice - if the rumours are true.
