The hard demolition seems to have already started and by the time of the election it will be in full swing. Not sure what happens now if the Libs don’t win the election. Watching Gladys on TV last night makes me a little concerned. She wouldn’t even say the word Stadium and kept evading the questions put to her about it. She came across as nervous and where as in the past was confident and determined now seems passive and noncommittal. She gave the impression of someone who has made an error in judgment and is now evading the issue and possible consequences.

He's said he's going to put the old stadium back together and renovate it. He said it again on the tv news the other night.
Daley said that Alan Jones and the rest of the SCG Trust board "crept into Allianz stadium under the cover of darkness and ripped out the fire sprinkler system".
Oh please!
There never was a sprinkler system to start with, Daley should go look up the original plans.

Now I'll have an old man Aussie guess and say people of that ilk would not be climbing all over Allianz stadium under the cover of darkness with spanners, drills, and wrenches in hand ripping out a fire sprinkler system, even if there had been one installed.
Like with our Roosters board, people with business/financial/sporting acumen are needed.
People love him, he's supposedly ahead in the

Apologies for multiple short posts.
I typed a long post but it got canned [maybe rightly so].

What she needs to do is prosecute the case. [Turnbull and co didn't/couldn't do it with energy etc...seemingly standing for nothing....seemingly wishy-washy, unable to prosecute the case.]
She needs to stand in front of the cameras and tell the People why we need a new stadium, how fantastic it will be...how wonderful it will be for women and disabled people in particular...and concert fans.
At the moment she's just standing there like a 'stunned mullet', 'rabbit in the headlights' and letting Daley in his "schools and hospitals" red bus and Vic Labor election slogans 'fire cannons' at her.
She should be telling the People more forcefully how the 2 stadia spend is only 2% of the state's construction budget and that they can have/will be having the new stadia and 'schools and hospitals'.
And telling them; "Every day the demolition is delayed is costing taxpayers $50,000, which is an unacceptable waste of money".
"Contracts have been signed, the fantastic new stadium for all sports fans in the state to enjoy is going to be built."
It's International Womens Day today...
Gladys should be getting a megaphone and shouting it all out if necessary.
"I am woman, hear me roar!"Last edited by bondi.boy; 03-08-2019, 10:06 AM.

It’s a scary prospect that Labor might get in on this one agenda.
I don’t think Daley has a clue what would be involved in putting it back together and making it comply with building and safety codes. Would probably cost as much as building a new stadium.

Voters will decide;

Sydney stadium debate more to do with politics than sport as NSW election approaches
This says something about the vexed relationship between the powerful financial, political and media coteries who rule Sydney sport and those who love it. You can decide just what.
The NSW Government is set to tear down the still functional but outdated Sydney Football Stadium and — if re-elected on March 23 — replace it with a shiny new $730 million venue.
Thus, notionally, spectators would watch NRL, Super Rugby and A-League matches in the kind of comfort taken for granted by ticketholders in other major Australian cities.
Yet rather than basking in pre-electoral glory, the decision to build the new stadium is considered so unpopular by political analysts that Premier Gladys Berejiklian might as well put a nuclear power plant next to a kindergarten.
#####
What 'political analysts'?
Greens/left-wing-aligned ones, and left-wing media?

Roosters club, Soccer clubs, Rugby clubs...should all be urging their fans and the sporting community of NSW to re elect Glad [where's 'Dame Edna'?] as Premier so we can get our new stadium.

I was against the new stadium originally but now I can’t see things going back. Too much has already been dismantled and with the demolition now in progress there’s no turning back. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am guessing Gladys is now worried this may cost her the election. If she could turn back time I think she would have put the whole stadium proposal off until after the election.Written and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland

I think Michael Daley telling Alan Jones that the SCG trust will be sacked if Labor wins is exactly what Jones deserves. Most voters don't differentiate between Federal and State politics and the backlash from Turnbulls sacking, which Jones & Hadley were instrumental, may come back to bite the Libs in the state election....and ironically cost Jones his spot on the SCG trust.
Libs lost me after Turnbulls needless sacking. Personally i think both major parties and Greens need a major shake up so i will be voting for a independent.

FWIW all they've done is taken out a bunch of seats... expected completion is some time in late July. Election's in 15 days and there will still be a stadium sitting there at that stage. Gladys is now no longer mentioning the stadium in her speeches because the issue has become extremely unpopular.
IMO regardless of who wins, we're looking at a minority government, Stuart Ayres losing his seat and budget blow-outs (already reported) forcing this project off the books.
UUUUUNLUCKY!!!
