Its our ground. Our traditional area. We want to be seen as world class as an organisation. But we play out of the great white elephant.

If you cant see the shambles the games management is in atm, poor player education, a bunker that doesn't, refs game managing and the sport being run by Betting agencies then good on you for being a blind optimist. That is not sarcasm by the way. If you still enjoy the game despite the NRL deficiencies that is great that you can turn a blind eye to this.

You are right about Sydney Olympic Park,,, it should never have been the so called No 1 stadium and yes they need a great stadium closer to the CBD for a great number of reasons including Tourism and Transport infrastucture. My argument is why spend all this money on 2 stadiums when it should be focused on one; the one at Moore Park.

My point about the AFL is that they are loyal to their core fan base and you cannot dispute that they have done that a lot better than the NRL. The NRL has no loyalty and is all about the quick buck and that is why the support base is being eroded.

Opposition Leader Michael Daley will go down in history as the person who cost Sydney the NRL grand final if he wins the state election in March.

Daley, who has been in the job for less than a month, stunned all the major football codes when he announced during the week he would stop all new stadium funding. Daley didn’t consult any of the key players before dropping the bombshell. In fact, he made the announcement at Moore Park – a few steps from the office of NRL boss Todd Greenberg – and still didn’t tell him.

Daley appears to believe the NRL is bluffing and would not dare to take the grand final interstate. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Other states, particularly Queensland and Victoria, would pay big money to steal the NRL decider from NSW. Victoria, for example, would be able to host the AFL and NRL grand finals on consecutive weekends. The tourism benefits of that double-header would be amazing.

The NRL is also keen to prove it is not Sydney-centric – that is why it is taking Origin matches to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.



Taking grand finals to other states would further boost this campaign. It would also ensure a quick sell-out – unlike some of the recent battles the NRL has had filling ANZ Stadium on the big day.


It would be the ultimate humiliation for a NSW Government to lose its premier sporting event to another state. But it just might happen.

A better question would be ask whether the Victorian State Government would ever not bow to the wishes of the AFL. We all know that answer. They would do whatever the AFL wants because they would be too scared of the backlash that would develop from voters if the AFL threatened to take the GF interstate.

This situation has escalated into the main agenda for the state election. Unfortunately for the liberal government there is a large section of voters who are totally against the Stadium development. This issue could cost the Libs the election. Incredible but true. I for one go to all our home games and I didn’t think Alliance needed demolishing. I thought a renovation would do, but that’s not obviously on the agenda. The real possibility of the SFS becoming just a hole in the ground is a catastrophe. It will significantly affect our team and could quite possibly derail our future seasons. I for one hope the SCG Trust sees sense and waits until after the election before commencing the demolition. That way if Labor do get in we won’t be left with a giant hole in the ground as our future home. I don’t think they will because I think they will dig their heels in and charge on regardless of the possible consequences.

The govt owns the land. The Trust is only a trustee/manager appointed by the govt.

I don't get what is so badly wrong with the NRL??? I have been having this discussion often of late with friends. I just see News LTD constantly talking down the blokes that took over their flawed system.

I know there are things to work on with RL. Always have been, always will be. Its impossible to please and satisfy everyone involved 100%.

But I believe the game is in as good shape as it ever has been. In comparison to the other major codes in this country we are doing well IMO.

Sure the Mexicans run their game very well. They are very insular and unique that they have very little competition really. We can learn a lot from them, as I believe we have and will. There are also detractors in that game who feel their game isn't run as well as it could or should be. I am sure it happens in all sports and businesses. Its healthy to have opposition and criticisim often.

I am only interested in Our home ground. I hope they implode Homebush personally.
