The money is being invested/funded from the public purse by the elected govt...as are roads, tunnels, trains, hospitals, schools etc.
New stadium for all to enjoy...fans of soccer, Rugby Union, Rugby League, concerts etc.
Womens teams catered for with womens dressing rooms.
Many more sections for disabled people.
Many more toilets, especially for women.
Rugby League, NSW's premier sport will get a fantastic new stadium...only if the Liberal govt is re-elected.
The 'politics of envy' lot can't see the benefits.
Fiscal conservative doesn't mean you never build new infrastructure when needed to advance the status of the state... and provide We the People with the excellence we deserve.

North West railway thru Kellyville etc.
North Connex tunnel under Pennant Hills Rd [ever tried going north out of Sydney on the M1 via Pennant Hills Rd on a Saturday morning/school holidays etc? or along Pennant Hills Rd in peak hour weekdays?

Wanna live in a backwater, decades behind the times? … no worries, just vote Labor...they couldn't even introduce an Opal card system for public transport, kept announcing, then cancelling.
    Excellent post.

i was against the stadium demolition but now too late. Cheaper and better value to knock down than renovate.

the council lost me with the naming of function room at Waverley oval new grandstand, the Margaret Whitlam room.. she never had any involvement in local Sport like the footy codes or cricket that I recall
Not their fault the Libs tried to rush a project without seeking approval or doing proper due diligence. We know their history with things like Opal tower and the (still farking unfinished) trams that closed down most of George Street. Planning laws exist for a pretty darn obvious reason you flog. I don't want a stadium that looks like our trams or Opal tower... you couldn't pay me to go there.

Your only reasoning for supporting a $2 billion spend that Mike Baird didn't take to the election, offset by monies allocated to schools and hospitals (with no public tender for a PPP - AKA blatant pork barreling to Alan Jones and Rupert Murdoch) is some vague call to terrorism concerns (i.e. if somebody bombs the stadium or opens fire with an assault rifle everybody will die... no shyte).

Wake up son and think for yourself rather than parroting absolute BS.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Arena_bombing

The Manchester Arena bombing was a suicide bombing attack in Manchester, United Kingdom on 22 May 2017. A radical Islamist detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb as people were leaving the Manchester Arena following a concert by the American singer Ariana Grande. The incident was treated as an act of terrorism.

Twenty-three people died, including the attacker, and 139 were wounded, more than half of them children. Several hundred more suffered psychological trauma.

        #####

That attack was at an exit from the stadium...it could just as easily have been inside the stadium.

Just one reason to build a new stadium with wider exits, escalators instead of lifts [refer new MA Noble stand at the SCG].
People get killed in stampedes when all trying to surge thru narrow exits.

In hindsight, Liberal govt should've had a local company build the light rail.
It has contracted Lend Lease to build the new stadium.
Don't see anything Lend Lease builds falling down.
Bob Carr Labor Premier deregulated the building industry 20 years ago, reportedly.

All the political stuff over the stadium is indicative of our culture not to mention the farce of appointing architect Philip Cox, the same person who designed the original. Planning and the timing of public works in Sydney has always been abysmal as well as the many laws and rules here - a legacy of a penal colony.

Couldn't agree more! ANZ is a crap stadium!

It was designed in the 1980s.
              It didn't fall down.
It was designed so that at midday, all the grassed area is in full sun...nice green grass to play on.
              It wasn't too bad...on a fine day.
Not too sure what Cox's brief was...maybe bars and seating took precedence over women's toilets/lifts/dressing rooms etc.
The land area it sits on is not expansive.
They took the swimming pool/centre to build the new stadium at Parramatta.
No room for the Roosters to play at that new stadium.

None of the lower deck seats in any stadiums in Australia are steeped enough IMO.
To enjoy NRL to the max one needs to be elevated, IMO.

Might as well stay home as try and watch NRL at the SCG, IMO.
If fans have to watch the game on screens because it's like ANZ and you can't see 'anything', might as well watch it in their living rooms in comfort.
Looks like that's gonna be our new permanent home.
Sad really, the demise of a once-great club...all because of an election.
Maybe we can play at Gosford...although Souths reckon they own the Central Coast now.

Our new Football Club home at the Entertainment quarter is very impressive.
Gonna be a virtual tour available in coming weeks.

Also, terrorists might attack you if you leave your home. I wouldn't risk it man.

PS - 3 rambling posts in a row? Take a chill pill, dude. Libs are just a political party, not something you should bother getting personally invested in. They'll change their position on this multiple times once Labor gets in. It's easier to just form your own view, stick with it and let the pollies squabble about BS.

Good to see you fire up ism... passion is fantastic.
but to consider I don’t think for myself Is utter BS. I’m totally think freely without inhibition caused by institutional thinking.

im saying I totally disagreed with The original proposal to knock down. My post was about a parking meter council sticking its head in.
but now you raised it....let’s consider

if you drive past the place now, you’ll realise it has gone beyond the point of renovation
my free thinking point that I have not seen in public domain is the cost to depreciate an asset probably makes it compelling to replace the stadium
then you take the environmental view of the waste of resources and the opportunity cost of schools and hospitals.

takes true judgment to have a point of view here rather than an opinion.

so ism I call you to reconsider your bs post. I always think for myself. Ask those that know me here’s for my often contrarian posts

I for one think The Axe thinks too much for himself, but otherwise he's alright.

Incidentally Margaret Whitlam swam for Australia, but no matter.

But returning to the main issue, we all hope a new stadium will be built, and it's not clear cut what will happen. And given that it's now become a legal matter, who wins the election is not the only factor. You'd figure a new stadium will probably be built either way. If the Libs win the election and get legal approval, the project will go ahead with govt money. If Labor wins the election the project will probably go ahead with private money or some sort of public private partnership.

Well maybe, but what I can't get out of my head is the image of you talking in a civil manner to an attractive blonde, in the seat in front of you, dressed in red and green at the last game of football played at the SFS.

Hey Rob, when was the last time you watched a game at the SFS?

PS - your bantz sounds like this guy. Pathetic.
