Labor Daley has made it perfectly clear that he won't be building a new stadium but will be putting the old one back together and renovating it.
things aren't as clear cut as you are suggesting. For example, if demolition of the stadium goes ahead (as a decision in the courts today indicates), it's probable that faced between the choice of a hole in the ground v a new stadium, Daley will choose the latter. Particularly if contracts already signed would cost money to get out of. He's saying shit now because he wants to get elected, but if he's faced with pretty much a done deal, what can he do?

The new Parra stadium looks the goods. Won’t help their shit team though.
Greenberg has a point. Sydney is supposedly the premier city in Australia but has the shittest stadiums.
They could move the Grand Final there and just charge more for seats.NRL chief executive officer Todd Greenberg is hoping Bankwest Stadium is the first of a number of new world-class rugby league venues built in New South Wales..it’ll be interesting to see

The injustice however if Daley wins and still builds the stadiums, will be worse than what we are experiencing now...it’ll be interesting to see

It has to go...and will be demolished before the March election.
Exactly the right thing to do.
If Roosters fans want a new stadium for our team to play in...and want better everything on game days than they have now...they'd better start talking up Premier Gladys and her stadium plans ...or risk having the SCG as our home ground forever.

He could well pay the "get out of" money and put the old stadium back together then renovate it...just to keep his word to his leftist fans who voted him in.

It's not rocket science Gladys, upgrade the stadiums number of toilets and accommodation for handicapped people and with the money you save throw it straight into a buckling hospital system. Give yourself some sort of chance in the election
People died in the Hillsborough Disaster...narrow exits, etc.
Luckily we've never had a stampede by a spooked crowd at Allianz stadium...yet.
We'd never had anyone trying to get a sausage mincer bomb onto a plane at Sydney airport until last year either.

I wasn't necessarily against the building of a new stadium. Sometimes you've got to spend money to make money and it's possible that outlaying all the money might have brought more people to Sydney. That said, so long as we've got a stadium in the Moore Park area to watch the Roosters - I'm happy.
One problem with having a great stadium is that away teams love playing there. We had one of our best seasons when we played out of Henson Park ...

Daley Labor have reportedly said they'll be taxing further new luxury boats valued at more than $250,000....and cars/vehicles valued at more than $100,000.
Owners of businesses selling such boats and vehicles have said that that will hurt their businesses.
Businesses that employ people.
"Tax the rich".
More like tax the people the rich employ right out of a job.
Yes, the Leftist mantra..."Tax the rich".
The rich buy stuff...new cars, new boats, new furniture, new whitegoods, new clothes, wines for their wine cellars, food for their entertaining, etc etc etc.
Any people one who think that old rich guys, or old guys with enough to retire on will continue working hard to pay Labor's taxes have another think coming
They'll just close down their businesses and go fishing..

II try and skip the political stuff when it comes to football because a part of why I go to the football is to step out of the day to day life and live in the moment of following our club.
in regards to the death trap notion that Jones links to Hillsborough deaths (which was a very tragic outcome largely linked to bad human decision making relating to crowd management) why which was a key finding were that all exit gates be manned to allow immediate and effective exiting of the stadium.
Can Jones explain and i put him on public notice given his detailed interest in closeness of the two stadiums for a repeat incident - why he and the SCG Trust have made a decision to keep a major exit gate locked during and after the game on the northern concourse where a large number of spectators are funneled into as the exit the ground,
I hope Alan Jones isn't using a terrible human tragedy to progress the agenda of a few.Last edited by Frozen Chook; 03-09-2019, 12:53 PM.

Ms Berejiklian, who a day earlier had refused to say "stadium" in her media conference,on Friday said she was "proud" of her policy.
"I want the best schools, the best hospitals, the best roads, the best public transport system – and the best stadiums. The people of NSW deserve nothing less," Ms Berejiklian said at the nearly completed stadium at Parramatta.
"What we're saying as a government is that it doesn't have to be an either/or proposition."

Yes Gladys-Liberal govt is committed to excellence.
People don't want to vote for Gladys, and instead choose to wallow in mediocrity...then that is their choice.
Sticking the old stadium back together is mediocrity.
Not building new rail lines, new light rail/metros, new tunnels, new roads, new stadiums etc to accommodate the millions of new migrants pouring into Sydney/the state every few years...is indeed mediocrity.

So Hillsborough wasn't about exits. What happened was that a stadium built circa 1899 had an upper level with standing room only (i.e. no seats and a policy of cramming in). Some of its significant supports were wooden. The stadium was fine but the local club hosted Liverpool. There were a LOOOT more spectators than usual (all that 'you'll never walk alone' BS - shudder - round balls) and no turnstiles, so the ticket inspectors just gave up and let everybody in. Result? Too many people stood on a wooden balcony (including people climbing up the fence from lower levels) and it fell down, crushing everybody below.
Exits weren't an issue. The issue was that they let too many people in too quickly without checking tickets to assess capacity. The fix for this was to introduce rules that you need turnstiles and fixed seating numbers.
The SFS is nothing like this because:
- It's one of those modern engineered, round, cement and metal stadiums that's engineered to hold 10x the number of spectators it can fit. It wasn't built in 1899. It was built in 1988 and was a shiny, cutting edge example of the modern world when Hillsborough broke.
- It has turnstiles with modern barcode scanners and a modern, 100% computerised ticket allocation system
- It only has seated areas (and corporate boxes)
Like our friend Wilston.Boy, JonesEEEEE is a cash for comment moron who will say anything he's told (difference being, Wilston.Boy has been out of a job since 2015 and isn't getting paid to say this BS).

Totally agree. Neither side has tackled the elites and the large corporate tax. Possibly because despite the system, they truely rule.
1. Corporate tax rates are a federal issue, not a state issue.
2. Murdoch is lobbying to cut the corporate tax rate, so lowering it would be in line with his wishes.Last edited by ism22; 03-09-2019, 10:28 AM.
