The Sydney Roosters have approached former Parramatta hooker Cameron King to join them ASAP as a back-up to veteran Jake Friend.

The club signed specialist hooker Craig Garvey from Canberra over the summer but he has been dogged by shoulder injuries.

As a result, they have approached King, who recently joined English championship club Featherstone after being dumped by the Eels.

It is believed he has a get-out clause and is considering his options. Cameron King could join the Sydney Roosters. (AAP)
Friend missed last weekend’s big win over Manly, with lock Victor Radley shifting into his hooking role.

But the Roosters know Radley’s best spot is in the back row and feel they need a specialist No.9 over a long season, especially with Friend in contention for Queensland in State of Origin.

Yes I wondered about the Garvey purchase too.

As for Cameron, I rated him highly too but ongoing injuries were a concern. The second hooker has always been a curse for us apart from Mortimer and Baptiste. Mark Riddell was a dead loss, Henderson had no luck at all, L-Estrange was well past his best.

He'd be foolish to knock back an offer from us to resurrect his NRL career.
