We were very close to signing him last year.

If only Napa had gone a couple of months before.

Cronk at $1m a season seems like an absolute bargain if the article isncorect in saying TPJ could be asking for $800k. I suppose JWH won't be here forever unfortunately, and perhaps the pigs could be built around TPJ long term.

I believe if he stays healthy TPJ will be the best forward in the game within a few years. He has every single skill a forward can have. The bloke is a freak and is beyond hard to contain. I have a chubby thinking about him in our colours

They have been saying that for the best part of a decade now. Back ended contracts put players in a precarious positions as their employers become incentivised to move them on towards the back end of their contracts. It also creates huge issues in struggling clubs when there is a change of management ala Des Hasler era at the Dogs which has left such a mess.

Front ended contracts just give clubs a chance to bed the rules but you have to be extremely disciplined and well managed to do so. Which very few are.

I'm just playing devils advocate, no one on here would know the ins and outs of our salary cap. Alternatively Napas money could have been reinvested in locking up some talent that we now will no longer have to meaning we should have most of Cronks contract to spend.

I dont think it's out of the realms of possibility that we could afford TPJ. I find it hard to believe we could make a concrete offer though until we know what Cronk is going to do.

+1. Unused cap is wasted cap.

I think its pretty certain this will be Coopers final year.

Fair dinkum. Give Angus a chance. Only 2 games in and your ready to get rid of him. It will take time for him to gel. Remember Teddy at the start of last season, and look how that turned out.

The Cronk signing would have to be up there as one of the best ever signings that our club has made in its history.

I keep thinking now that we are lucky that party boy pearce threw a tantrum and wanted a release as a result because had Pearce stayed (however unlikely it would have been because his ego was always going to get in the way), we may have lost Keary as a result and look at how Keary is flying now.

I agree with your comments about JWH (what a player) and TPJ.

Do you think Freddy might have an influence on TPJ coming here?

I was never a big Angus fan, because I don’t really know what his strengths are, he was ordinary for Souths last year, and I didn’t pay much attention the year before, what makes him so good, does he break the line, offload, great in defence? Or is he a Cordner clone? I’m not too sure, if you say he is great, I hope he is, and that he justifies his 700k plus salary.

but last year I was already hoping it was Murray that we signed.

I can see Cronk retiring, Tetavano going, Latrell to 5/8 and maybe Billy Smith to centre?
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...
