In any given round of footy, key players will be out and you've just gotta adapt. Plus side, Collins and Cronk are back.
It's a very large Broncos squad with a lot of talent. IMO they'll do a job on us unless we defend properly and respect the ball. Player by player?
- Teddy > Boyd
- Toops < Oates
- Latrell > Staggs (but Staggs is good!!!)
- Manu < Bird (but Manu is good!!!)
- Ikuvalu < Isaako (significant mismatch)
- Keary > Milford (unless you are from QLD, then the MILF is god)
- Cronk > Nikorima (Nikorima's not even a HB, he's a bench utility)
- Tetevano > Idiot Thug
- Radley < McCullough (Radley is awesome but there's a severe mismatch here at hooker)
- Tauks == Offen-gowie (different skillsets - I prefer Tauks but respect our opponent)
- Cords > Glenn
- Maubs < Razor boy
- Liu < Pangai Junior
---
- Never heard of any of the Brisbane subs (aside from one and that's only because his twin brother's significantly better than him) ... Crichton is probably the only proper sub and he's a massive trump card if he's ready to play big minutes. I suspect that the result will come down to how the subs are used and if/when when they are needed.
Overall?
- Brisbane will be stronger in the forwards and guys like Oates will add to that go forward. IMO where we'll win it is if we force Pangai Junior to defend a lot so that he's gotta sub off early rather than making 200m+ by bulldozing everybpdy in short bursts over a 70-80 minute period with time for energy conservation in between (Taumalolo style). If Pangai Junior and Offen-gowie are forced to sub early, we'll be able to bring on Crichton and Collins (who IMO we are yet to see the best of - the kid is massive and replaces Napa's size, just hasn't shown it yet!!!) against two nuffies.
- Conditions will decide how things go to an extent (noting that EVERY game we have played this year has been in the fukking rain!!!) If we have fine conditions on that soft as SCG grass then IMO we'll be able to run around them... which is our strength. Again... if Pangai Junior and Offen-gowie are tied up trying to contain cheeky Keary kicks/passes to Latrell, Teddy, Manu, Crichton and Cordner then they won't have the gas left in them when it comes to attack (and we'll have tries on the board). I don't think Darius Boyd is in the same class as Teddy/Latrell. However, guys like Oates and Isaako will muscle up to our backs a lot and make their regular forward-like metres. If Toops has his game on then no worries. Ikuvalu? Good luck... soldier. IMO the pressure will be on our edge back rowers to position themselves so that the outside backs are forced to squish into the centre rather than standing out wide with 1-on-1 runs against Ikuvalu. If Cords and Crichton do their job properly, our outside backs should be able to run a riot...
- We will win because we are the smarter team. Brisbane's gonna want a lot of penalties going their way and wet conditions to cramp our ability to run around them. Neither will happen...

I think when comparing teams, you should include the bench (yet to be finalised, I get that). Too often I’ve seen subs made with poor and inexperienced benches and matches turn.
we usually out play other sides bench through superior pathway development.
btw like broncos ranga on bench. Looks the goods in futureWritten and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland

The Broncos have tremendous depth, particularly the forwards. Haas, Ofahengaue, Su׳a, Fifita, Flegler, Won’t be able to keep them all.
Pat Carrigan is one the young props yet to play first and he knocked back a million dollar offer from the Bulldogs in the off season...it’ll be interesting to see
