  • is Daniel Tupou a Roosters great?

Daniel Tupou has never really been the club's premier winger (he was overshadowed by RTS and then Fergo), but he has still accomplished quite a lot since debuting at the end of 2012. Two premierships, and a try in each grand final. One Australian appearance. Played all three games in NSW's drought-breaking 2014 triumph. On track to bring up 150 games this season. 80 first grade tries (9th all time for the club).

So is he a club great? Perhaps not a star, but maybe a hardworking, dependable legend like Friendy/Maubs/Ricko?

    A resounding yes.

A 2x Premiership winner who has overcome a major slump to regain his best form (similar to Friendy in that sense).

His finals series last year was absolutely flawless. The way he maintained his composure in that Prelim vs Souffs under immense pressure was something to behold.

Both he, Aubo and Liu are the silent achievers in our team. But only Roosters fans know that we couldn't do without them (check our farcical performances minus Toops in 2017 as proof, including the infamous Prelim).

      Not yet.

Time will cement his legacy at the club.

He is in the same boat as Liu, SST and Cornder for mine. If they left tomorrow they would be remembered fondly but if they stick around for another 5 years they will be remembered as greats of the club.

Not quiet a GREAT, but a very worthy player who scores some brilliant tries, handles pressure well and does plenty of work hitting the ball up. Defensive lapses have let him down in the past but his all round game has improved tremendously in the past 2 years. I love Toops. He will always be remembered fondly by Roosters fans, Like I remember Larpa Stewart from the 1960's.

Even if he were never to play again he's got a pretty fair record.

                I'm with Mickie Lane.

Tupou made his first grade debut with the Roosters and his record speaks for itself.

I'd say yes, especially when you consider he's signed for unders to stay

Two time grand final winner and scorer in each. Of course he is a club legend. I doubt opposition teams like playing against him.

He may not be a Ferguson or a Boustead but considering his club loyalty, his combinations with Jennings and Mitchell and superior aerial game, he is probably the most under rated winger going around. Great is a adjective I thought reserved for the Fittlers, Beetsons, Cootes and Hastings. But his value to team camaraderie and ability to perform in the big games puts him up there.

I am still confused why Cronk doesn’t do those curling back cross field kicks to the big guy more. High percentage play.

Cronk did do one on Sat night but they have been few and far between.
