We need to make a play for top quality coach. By then we will have a very sound base in terms of junior talent coming through the grades plus a big signing or two.
Bellamy needs to be Politis' last big play before he hands over.
Geez Fred, can any coach say with certainty where they will be in over 12 months time? Smith is no different than any other coach. As we've seen in the NRL and the AFL, coaches come and go with regularity. Sometimes their choice, sometimes not.
I am fairly positive about 2012. I don't expect us to be flying, we have a lot of young blokes in our side that still have some growing up to do, on and off the field. But I am hoping for a little more stability now that we've got rid of a few dropkicks. Yes, we could get rid of a few more but every side has to have one or two.
If anything I reckon B Smith may take on a position as a director of coaching after next season and have either Elliott or someone take on the first grade coaching role.
I am happy to have Smith at the club. He is a great improvement on the past few management have chosen - eg Fittler and Anderson. And I'd much prefer him to Sticky.
I know you have issues with him, but you have issues with all coaches the club hires Fred.

Agreed but I dont think that is going to happen unfortunately.

I try to give all our coaches the benefit of doubt before they start coaching us.
But when they show themselves as duds, then I have to make comments.

Fred, the fact is that there aren't too many supercoaches on the market, or on the rise.
And the chances of us snaring the supposed supercoaches of Bellamy or Bennett are buckleys and none. Both won't tolerate the interference that our higher echelons constantly indulge in, both in regards to recruitment and player attitude and behaviour.
I actually really like Anthony Griffin at the Broncs, a no nonense bloke who seems to have a feel for his players. But the Broncs won't be keen to let him go in a hurry.
And ultimately, Elliott and Taylor are management signings, not Smith's. Smith can recommend, but the ultimate decisions lie with NP and his cronies. The same people who signed Smith.
So your problem should be with management, who keep signing these so called 'duds'. Don't shoot the messenger Fred, aim a little higher than that.
