  • Bench pecking order

With Friend out for a lengthy period we can assume that Radley will be locked in as hooker, and with the rest of the squad being available, we’ll have 2 bench spots locked in for Aubs and Tetevano, so who gets the other 2?

Recent form suggests Tuponina and Butcher have moved ahead of Collins. Does that leave us a prop shirt on the bench? And what happens when Friend returns? Radley is a definite selection, causing more good headaches for our selector.

Tuponina and Butcher are ahead of anyone else at the moment. I think I rate Faama more than Collins. But against Souths who have a big pack we may need more size.

You would have to imagine Robbo would just keep rotating the stock as he sees fit week to week, depending on whom we are playing. But it would appear Collins has been overtaken by Sitilli and Butcher in recent weeks, so it will be interesting!

I am happy that Butcher has been playing well in the last few weeks. IMO he’s been trying hard for a few seasons but had been behind Collins for a while but that great offload a few weeks ago and finally his first try might give him more confidence. He seems like a nice guy who listen to his coach and leaders. Let’s hope he scores many more.

So when Jake returns I’m seeing the bench being Zane, Butcher, Maubbs and Sitili. Collins hands has been letting him down recently but he should bounce back. I also see Butcher starting during SOO replacing Cords or Angus. All these forwards we have I think we can finally put to rest that we are one big boppar down like Napa or Tapau. I think we play better with a mobile pack that with the likes of the Burgiis. If Tapau was thinking of coming over, then he lost his chance and we saved some $$. Still though, I would like to see Verrill have another chance. Why get a nuffie from another club and have to use our limited sombrero on them.

I really don't think Robbo is gong to drop Liu, do you? With Butcher going so well, he could become the lock rotation with Rads and Liu could move back to bench prop. That would make our bench Maubs, Tetavano, Liu and Butcher. That's a bloody good bench. I don't think there's a place for Sitili yet in a full strength side.

You and I have both been critical of Butcher and questioned his potential many times.

It looks like we are both starting to see the light mate,he has been impressive!

Nat Butcher will play for NSW one day.

He's still only 21! Just a baby in middle forward years.

Just imagine where he'll be at in a few years.

As for our bench, I think Sitili is close to nailing down a spot. He offers tremendous impact and has mad skillz.

No I didn't propose that cause Liu is very important...perhaps I counted for one extra player so I stand corrected. I would say Sitili for Butcher but that depends the opposition. They both will get many more games this year.

Yeah because if Radley is starting Lock, you have JWH and SST in the Front Row, Jake at hooker, Crighton and Cordner in the Second Row. Therefore Liu is on the bench and he along with Tetevano and Maubs would be stone cold certainties. It is then that we have to decide between Butcher, Sitli and Collins.

Finally saw the light with Butcher then mate?

I personally rate Collins the least out of the list tbh. Too many errors in his game and gets owned in tackle on many occasions. He also doesn't have a high-work rate.

My bench would be Aubos, Tets, Sitili and Butcher. Good combination of power, size and mobility.

I will say this, Sitili will have to be in the 17 next year. Something will have to give imho as he is the X factor that we need off the bench. When he went on the field on Saturday night, he gave us the extra energy our team needed.

You mean now? If so, I agree, or when Friend is back, then you would also be dropping Liu.

Really we have a strong 6 man bench good to go any week depending on the opposition

                            Robbo will adapt accordingly,

Our bench strength will win us back to back

When Friendy comes back my bench will be:

                              Rads
                              Tets
                              Aubo
                              Farmer

Its great to have depth now!
