  • JWH charged for his crusher tackle yesterday

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 9 match against the Canberra Raiders, one member of the first grade squad has been cited by the NRL Match Review Committee

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves received a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Head/Neck charge for an incident that occurred in the 14th minute on Raiders player Dunamis Lui.

The base penalty for this charge is 100 points.

If the Club elects to enter an Early Guilty Plea, he will receive 90 points and will be free to line-up in the Roosters Round 10 match against the Brisbane Broncos.

If a Not Guilty Plea is entered and he is unsuccessful in making his case, he will miss one match due to suspension.

The Club has until 12pm on Tuesday to enter a plea.

Oldfield was not charged for the tackle on Toups.

I sometimes think that the guilty plea, take the carry over points and play the weekend, often comes back to bite you later on. A small infringement at seasons end means the carry over points makes you miss a semi final. As happened to Latrell in the prelim final v Vermin last year.

I agree Hawkeye about JWH strategy.

I don't think Oldfield's was intentional with Toups. Daniel's head got caught under and the real damage came from the weight of the third man in.

Ricky had definitely coached the Raiders up on third and fourth man in to slow the play and suit their fowards.

Bad luck for JWH who was one of our best. If he sits out we could be doing it tough against the Broncs. They are getting their lucky breaks now and could jag an injury riddled Roosters at Suncorp. Just like their win over a decimated Manly. If so we'll be reading headlines about Siebold turning it all around. LOL

If we win it will be a further test of the mettle and talent that we have passed.

Both so called crusher tackles, Oldfield's and JWH should have been viewed the same. Most would say they are accidental, catching the players neck in a dangerous position. Either both are viewed as non chargeable or not ! Its not circumstances but inconsistency, where arbitrary decisions by the reviewing committee annoys us supporters...I dare say if it wasn't JWH but Cam Smith there would be no charge....

            What a friggen joke.
The same bullshit happened with Joey before the Melbourne game.
            It stinks.

The tackled player would be charged.

NRL should adopt the soccer rules of clearing carryover points for finals series. It is a no-brainer to not let a players miss a finals game over a misdemeanor so I can only conclude the NRL has no brains.

                  Unbelievable.

Won't beat the Broncs without him.

If he takes the early guilty plea, he plays.

I'm not sure I understand why Oldfield wasn't sin binned for the Toops tackle. Toops was clearly not going to take any further part in the game, so if Oldfield was put on report, then I thought the new rule was he should have been sin binned for 10 mins.

That's quite stunning...surely the Canberra tackle on Toups was worse.

I'd say challenge it but given that Joey Manu got suspended earlier this year there's no point.

They've got no clue what they're actually charging players for.

If it's accidentally putting a players neck in a dangerous position then why wouldn't Oldfiled (not that he did anything wrong) get charged too. It's just pot luck with these crusher charges.

The thing is once the match review committee charges a player there is a 50-50 chance to the outcome. After Joeys charge which was a joke I think JWH should take the early guilty plea. We need him next week cause I don’t think Cords will play.

This one seems more based on reputation. Tubular Bells is a "nice guy".

It's a shame Jareds last name isn't Bargearse.

Surely he could stick a Burgase between Waerea and Hargreaves.
Jarred Waerea-Burgarse-Hargreaves. JWBH. I like it!
