  • Return of the Fitz.

Nothinkg like a good Star Wars segway.

THE unmistakable, gleaming bald dome of Roosters favourite son Craig Fitzgibbon is back, baby.

We can exclusively reveal today that Fitzy, a former captain of the club, will be added to the Roosters coaching staff from next season.

Having left at the end of 2009, the 34-year-old played two seasons with Hull FC but was forced to retire earlier this month after breaking his ankle in a match against Castleford.

The Roosters didn't miss a beat and got straight on the line to entice him home.

His precise role is yet to be determined, but he will be foremost helping players who are not selected each week and also fostering those making their way back from injury.

More importantly, though, the very news that such a respected and well-loved former player is returning to the Roosters is the best way for the club to underline a forgettable season.

Fitzgibbon, along with captain Braith Anasta, were the crucial leaders during the horrors of 2009.

He can do similar great things this time around.

"Craig is a highly regarded former Roosters player and we are excited by his addition to our coaching and performance team," Roosters coach Brian Smith said last night.

"Craig's experience as a player will stand him in good stead for his new role, particularly in his involvement with our younger players.

"I am sure that his return to our club will be welcomed by Roosters members, players and staff."

I'm so glad the club is bring in a man of his class and character to mentor our youngsters. He always was a great trainer and had a work ethic second to none. Hopefully this bodes well for next season.

                              The best re-signing of 2012!

It will mean that we get back the old 'Frank the Tank', instead of 'Thomas the Tank' engine.
Fitzy was his mentor. Taught him how to train and eat properly.
FPN should have a better 2012 than the crap he dished up this year!
