Who else is there to sign???

            Most agree Bwaiff isn't a 5/8 anymore.

A couple of years ago, many on here were speaking of this kid in the same terms they are speaking of the 2 GF 1/2s this year. In fact didn't he help his side into a GF in his 1st season???

Where did Watsamatta finish without him this year???

I've seen us make dumber decisions. He will come cheap and have something to prove. That can be very motivating, the last chance saloon.

When we last did this, Carntey, many weren't happy. Many said we'd fail, it was a dumb singing, a waste of cash. He led us to a GF. He was motivated, pumped to prove the critics wrong.

I'm happy to give this kid a chance. IMO we have nothing to lose. Like we did when we signed Carntey, my opinion is the same.

sums it up pretty well. its not like he is going to have a bad influence on the place and if he continues to be crap, he can play for newtown before being released next year or the year after and we would be in the same position we are now. I would probably prefer us to go for a more dynamic 6 - im not sure how pearce and mortimer would pair up - i still think those 2 together could lack a little creativity but you never know and it could be a good last minute stop-gap solution. he will keener than anyone to prove his 2009 form was no fluke

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!. Absolutely ridiculous. Carney was sacked from his old club for being an idiot, Mortimer was sacked because he can't play. If Anasta isn't a better 5/8 than Mortimer I will give life away.

Exactly my point roz, if there was a more dynamic player available and we didn't have a crack at that type of player 1st I'd be pissed off. I just don't see that type of player available.

It's funny many here are pumping for Maloney, I reckon Mortimer isn't dissimilar to Maloney, not the best player going around but in the right structure and team he can go well.

Who knows what's gonna happen. Pearce or Bwaiff or even Friend may go down early and Mortimer may be a very good depth player. Stranger things have happened in footy.

James Maloney is looking for a Sydney club for year 2013, and is all but certain to find one, with half a dozen clubs already interested, pretty sure the Roosters would be in the mix

ive been thinking the same thing. dont get me wrong, maloney is a good player but he is a bloke who has been through more clubs than most particularly at his age. He was released by the eels and storm before finding his way to the warriors where he has excelled. In terms of natural ability/talent, id be inclined to say mortimer is the better player but he has a lot of work on to go with maloney at first grade level. His head is in the right place, he has proven in the past that he can be unstoppable on his day in first grade, he has been through every junior rep team possible which proves that he definitely has the natural ability, its only a matter of everything aligning and we could have a good prospect on our hands.

Lets not also forget that jono ford is being released (thank god) which leaves us a touch thin of halves depth next year anyway. parra id imagine would still be paying a large portion of his salary and even so, the fact that this would be one of his last chances to make it would suggest that he would accept whatever money he gets.

on a side note, im sure ive raised this before but the other young half still off contract i believe that could be worth having a look at is jordan rankin. he looked decent in first grade in a poor side at the back end of this year and has big accolades from of the best judges and like mortimer, was a prodigious talent as a kid which earnt him so many junior rep honours. im led to believe that it all got a bit much for him and he got a little big headed after having debuted at 16 but since he has been getting himself back on track and is one that i would certainly be looking at if i was POS or smithy especially conisdering his utility value (1, 6 and 7).

i think smithy said at newtwon that day, that we dont have a back up 6 or 7.
i didnt think we had no7 to start with.......
Our stocks will become even thinner if Jack Little John accepts another clubs offer for 2012 instead of The Jets !
