Can't understand why they didn't trial Rhys Pritchard at 5/8. Apparently played all his junior days in that position and made representative honors. Has he been signed for next year?

Won't cost us much...
After having a spoiled superstar who could play as well as JoEEE/Freddie/Lockyer but opted to play on par with Willie Wanka in his final season while spending his free time getting tats/drinking, I quite like the idea of having the exact opposite.
Mortimer might find form if he:
- Feels wanted.
- Doesn't have Hayne stealing the spotlight + trying to cover his position.
- Keeps putting it in at training like he's reported to be doing with the Eels.
If not, then we can fark him off, and guarantee he won't hit his girlfriend/have an off-field incident that makes us look sh1te even when he isn't playing. My biggest fear right now is:
- Under performing stars.
- Drunks.
- Wife beaters.
Having a reputation for trying hard but not quite cutting the mustard is better in my books than not taking the team seriously, being a tw@ and performing badly on the field at the same time.Last edited by ism22; 09-25-2011, 06:09 PM.

Most agree Bwaiff isn't a 5/8 anymore.
A couple of years ago, many on here were speaking of this kid in the same terms they are speaking of the 2 GF 1/2s this year. In fact didn't he help his side into a GF in his 1st season???
Where did Watsamatta finish without him this year???
I've seen us make dumber decisions. He will come cheap and have something to prove. That can be very motivating, the last chance saloon.
When we last did this, Carntey, many weren't happy. Many said we'd fail, it was a dumb singing, a waste of cash. He led us to a GF. He was motivated, pumped to prove the critics wrong.
I'm happy to give this kid a chance. IMO we have nothing to lose. Like we did when we signed Carntey, my opinion is the same.

If he's cheap, I don't see why not.
There are no good 5/8s left on the market for next year. Anasta is not a 5/8.
Littlejohn is a nuffie and won't make the cut in first grade. So, either Mortimer fails, and Anasta is our 5/8, or he finds form and plays talented football again.
If the former happens, Anasta has his last year at the club, then we go after someone decent for 2013.

Not the greatest I have ever seen, but still 100 times better than mortimer.
The Mortimer thing surely must be gee up
He is a reserve grader with a first grade standard short side rush and bomb, and rep standard heart.
That has never been enough.

If signed, at least he would be a cheap buy rather than an expensive one. Something different from the norm.
And at least he seems a decent bloke, unless some of our other recent signings. I don't see him getting us in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Mortimer would have a lot of points to prove, just like the drunkard when he returned to the NRL. And there's no reason we can't be the lucky recipient yet again of at least 1 good year.
