  • Footy Fix for the Bye round

If you are in need of one, two games on at Bear Park on Sunday arvo.

    Jersey Flegg -:Bears vs Easts
Canterbury Cup - Bears vs Mounties (1st and 3rd on ladder).

Hall, Lamb, Fletch Baker, Farmer, Mullet, Verrils, Cuz all going round.

Weird dynamic with the Flegg game having players from both teams who have played Bears Canterbury Cup this year.

Byes are extra hard to cope with when you go into them losing the last couple. It's like going on two dates when nothing happens and then she doesn't return your call.

I re-watched the 2010 Qualifying Final between the Roosters and the Tigpies.

What an amazing game. I remember watching it with Player 1 and getting up to leave when the then very young JWH was smashed in the head with shoulder charge with 40 seconds to play and not awarded a penalty. I then had to sit down again to watch the miracle unfold.

Sorry, my allegiances don't get passed on so easy...

        Newtown is coming,
        Hear the Bluebags humming,
        Newtown – Newtown
Newtown is flying – there’ll be no denying
        Newtown – Newtown

Thirteen men all dressed in blue,
Look out ’cause they’re coming through
        Newtown – Newtown
Here’s the team that takes the field,
It’s the team that will not yield,
Bluebags hear the crowd – they’re roaring
        Flashing, dashing, Blues are scoring

Anyone know how Hall went last week?

Figure one advantage of him not playing firsts last week is that he wouldn't be disqualified from playing reserves this week. Hopefully he'll be up to speed before too long.

Stats say 11 touches for total 79 metres, 1 line break.
              1 tackle, 2 missed tackles.

              Early days for Halldog!

One of the greatest games of football I’ve ever seen. Who said that?

6 all halftime. Bears prob unlucky not to lead as their try off intercept. Halldog showed some pace to run down the intercepter but had support unf.

Verrils starting Hooker nice individual try. B Lamb the class so far and all the pack has stayed tough. Deitzy playing 6 as Drew Hutchison out.

                        Easts won Flegg 44-12.

Verrills did well, hopefully he’s done enough to make Robbo consider giving him a shot against Penrith

Great win to the Bears in the end...24-14.

So many good players today to beat the comp leaders, it was a tough physical encounter.

In the backs Moss, Murphy and Lewis were great. The pack was strong with Fletch Baker my pick there.

With Deitz, Lamb and Verrils adding some nice touches and finesse, JT has a squad capable of going all the way.

If you get to see the highlights, enjoy Bernie Lewis try....a bit like Brett Kennys gf special.

Robbo and Nick were both there.
