The only thing Latrell owes us is his commitment during the time he is contracted to us. He owes us nothing else.

      That's a lot of money.
It usually comes down to the money. And who could blame them with their limited window to earn well. It irks me when they say it’s not about the money.

As far as the club is concerned they obviously feel that Gus has NFI.

Bless Coops. This was his response when asked about Gus' comments:

“Trust me if I was an opposition player I wouldn’t want Latrell Mitchell playing in the Roosters football team or the NSW team,” Cronk said.

“Cool the jets, just relax. He knows what he is doing. There is one man who is the coach of this football side (Trent Robinson) who knows how to get that guy playing his best footy and generally happy.

“I don’t understand where it’s all coming from. Three weeks ago (Mitchell) played the best game any young kid has played in rugby league history now he isn’t happy or playing well?

“(Gould) is able to call it as he sees it. But I don’t think Phil Gould is in the phone contacts of Latrell Mitchell in terms of catching up and he would regularly know Latrell’s position on anything.

            No premierships though for Gus.

            Robbo has 2.

I'm calling HIM out as an erratic, duplicitous narcissist. His public meddling and beyond ridiculous blaming of Cordner and Latrell for Walker's ineptitude is vomit-worthy. His implication by extension that the Roosters club itself is behind NSW' 4 point loss due to their alleged mismanagement of Latrell (who went to a close relative's funeral FFS) is the rambling of an unhinged individual.

Yes I remember the 90s. This is the present and Gould is not acting like any friend of ours so he can piss right off.

But storm in a teacup for mine and listening to Latrell talking about things he doesn't look too fazed.
I think this is the case too. Over recent years Gus has taken quite a few pot shots at Robbo in his subtle way. Well he thinks he's being subtle but we all know how Gus manipulates and uses the media to get his message and agendas across. He's up there with Bennett in his ability to do that. Just off the top of my head there has been:

Digs at our team's inability to use Cronk properly - early last year.
Digs at Cord's lack of progression as a player. That he can't offload and is predictible because he's been running the same lines every week for years.
Digs at the team's poor attack and boring structure driven attack.
Now the agenda against Latrell. He started the Latrell bagging very early in the SOO game.
Comments about Latrell's problem being a Roosters problem - ie another dig at the Roosters coaching staff.
Comments about the Roosters left edge being to blame for Cody Walker's crap SOO debut.

I don't know whether it's jealousy of Robbo or the fact he just doesn't like Robbo's coaching style. Look at the interference he had with the coaches at Penrith over recent years. Griffin complained about it. Cleary wanted him out. He's a control freak and a narcisist with a huge ego. He's friends with Nick. He still thinks he can coach the Roosters better than Robbo. Maybe he's jealous of Robbo's relationship with Nick. Who knows.

As for Freddy, Gus is like a father figure to him. It must be hard for him to come out against him. He's probably very easily influenced by Gus. Not that I'm making excuses for Freddy. As the coach of NSW he should not hold one player responsible for the loss. Not publicly.

Only acrimonious because of his unfair comments and mind games that are clearly attacking us and young Latrell. And his abuse of his public profile in so doing.

                  Great sum up MR.

As for Freddy - strange that watching last night's game coverage, it was the first time I felt quite an intense dislike and distrust of Fittler. Standing there on the hill doing the clap with the crowd, with a stupid look on his face acting like he didn't have a care in the world. While, as a result of his and Gould's blame shifting for their poor coaching and selections, 21 yo Latrell is publicly hung out to dry shouldering 100% of the blame for NSW loss, AND that the Roosters club is also to blame for supposedly mismanaging him.

FOFF Freddy, FOFF Gould and FOFF State of Origin.

Fittler just lucky all the Queensland greats retired just as he became NSW coach. Otherwise his first year as Blues coach would have been his last. I wouldn’t want this bloke to manage a chook raffle.

I credit Nick, Freddy and Gus as the big three who helped save the club in the mid-90s. If not for them we might have been kicked out instead of Souths.

While I experienced the glory days of the mid-70s, I also remember the hard times before Gus came and we regularly made the semis. We made the GF the year after he left and won the comp just 3 years after he left (with Gus on board in an advisory capacity). That didn't come from nowhere.

The guy can coach. He won 2 comps in his first four years as a first grade coach and, in 9 years of Origin, he only lost 1 series.
Quite frankly Gould has been living on past glories for more than long enough. List me his achievements in the past 10 years. I suspect it won't take you long.

Any of Gould's successes have not been at the Chooks, apart from an advisory role. And remember he didn't hesitate to walk out on the Chooks without notice before season 2000, which was pretty piss poor in my opinion.

I think Gus is over-exposed in the media. Plus, he gets bored and starts riffing on BS during games. Still, he sometimes writes things which are spot on.

Greg Alexander stands by what Gus did at Penrith, so perhaps that situation is complex.

He walked out on the Chooks with Nick's blessing and we made the GF the next year, so no harm done?

I still maintain that he was one of the big 3 who helped to save us in the 90s. The Chinese say that when you drink from the well, you should always thank the people who built/saved the well …

If you don't agree with that last part, that's fine, but we'll have to agree to disagree!

Who is it that says Gould is/was a great coach. Easily one of NSW's coachs but still only a 58% win percentage. He coached 280 NRL games with a 59% win percentage with 2 permierships.
You do have to take into consideration the teams he had, but really is it that great, I don't think its bad, but great no.
I do know some players that have played for him and they liked it, but its Ch9 and Gould himself that will tell you what a legendary coach he is.
