Yep, that's the problem. No doubting his heart (or the roosters, for that matter, sticking by him), but at this level of competition in the hardest body-contact ball game in the world, it is unrealistic to expect him to excel when he has tissue grafts holding both his lower limbs together, and he has not played basically for 3 years.
I am excited about both of those kids but there was a reference to it being a "short-term" solution. Surely if those two are good they will be long term prospects.
(edit) sorry just reread it and see Mortimer was refered to in the short term. Well that is great then. Let those two kids fight it out.
Two seasons - fark me our club has been generous to this bloke and received little in return. It amazes me how some players are given so much lattitude and others so little.
New baby or not, he needs to actually play some decent footy in 2012 or he'll find himself of the footballing scrapheap and his career will be over before it really began.
At the moment he is nothing more than an injury prone myth.
NC
He probably hasn't been paid much so far.
He's shown talent and the club has persisted obviously hoping to avail itself of that talent.
Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
NRL is very tough, injury often ends careers before they get very far.
