Selection Drama and Injuries one week, even more the next

verbal diarrhea from has been experts and the media, this used to be about the game, now it’s about agenda, old timers opinions and known stoners making critical decisions and destroying young blokes confidence.

i am so glad I made the decision to only watch the 15 min highlight lowlight package the day after, the Pre game hype, woeful commentary, ex players dissecting the game poorly, the late start has killed the experience for me

I watch the game but I don't watch any of the shows in the week leading up to it and I only switch on for the game itself.

Origin is one of the sporting world's great contests.

If you don't like the commentary don't read it and turn on the mute button and listen to some good music.

It's all about the coin it brings in. The NRL is a business.

Correction, WAS on of the worlds great contests, unfortunately now it is a pale reflection of its former self, no biff, no cult heroes to follow, over officiated, agenda driven, bias commentary.

I pt was great when the players decided who won

Origin hit its heights with Roy and HG supplying the audio overlay.

Didn't those sporting doyens have Lionel Rose's 'I Thank You' playing before kick off.

That surely would create a furore today....perhaps the anthem could be replaced by something equally iconic. I fact I have an idea which could occupy another thread.

For Mother's Day for example we could have 'World's Favourite Mum' play at the game commencement. Col Joye would like that.

I think it’s def losing popularity. Can’t put my finger on why, but it’s on the downward slide.

ill tell you why- the biggest roars that came from the crowds or anyone watching it from pubs and clubs came when the forwards put on a stink. Nothing beats the softening up period of a game. As Noel "Ned" Kelly once said on Channel 7s Controversy Corner " i've always advocated that a good punch in the nose never hurt anyone" Amen to that

Im finding it unbearable hearing Kevin Walters interviewed. Would any club be desperate enough to take him on as a full time head coach if he is going to carry on like a dick head? I really cant recall Michael Maguire or Trent Robinson carrying on like this when working with the coach whisperer.....did they????

I fully agree about Kevvie. WTF is going on with him...it's like watching a movie and your waiting for the Director to say cut and then he relaxes and has a laugh.

Just presents as so false, and strained and anxious. And so not who he is.

I said before game 1 he won't win with this approach, as Jack said you won't win when you're fakin it. He did that one though.

I guess he is up against a desperate coach though, which isn't good either.

I hate how it interrupts the NRL but if you do love Rugby League than you have to appreciate origin. No game is faster or more brutal.

According to who? TV audiences and attendances are great.

Nathan Brown is praising Mitchell Pearce for 'selflessly' turning his back on 2 Blues jerseys and 60k. So - at the very least - the 'injuries' weren't so bad as to prevent him from playing.

Newcastle have a couple of wins against 2 good sides who don't have their halves available and suddenly Bogan Brown seems to think he has a voice in the game. This dumb little Face Slapper should keep his mouth shut.

The game as a whole has become soft.. we are at the point now where crowds BOO big hits... its depressing. So it is no shock that an event that is built on its toughness, big hits and brawls is losing popularity...and to top it all off the NRL still use footage of punch ups and shoulder charges to advertise origin even though they rubbed all that out of the game lol, When i watch origin now it feels no more intense than a normal NRL game between 2 good sides
