I can see where you are coming from. the few times I have had dealings with him he was not necessarily a dick but def not easy to engage.

I honestly think he thought that everyone would agree with the decision to drop Latrell because Gus had braying about it so loudly, and Gus seems to be the only one Fittler listens to. I think he may be somewhat taken aback now by the horrified reactions by nearly everyone south of the border, so he has to try and justify his absolutely shit decision. The more he talks, the more shrill he sounds. I can't listen to him anymore - he get's switched off as soon as he pops up, radio or tv.

Craig Wing on nrl.com gets it right. Says there are a few selection decisions that look like 'head-scratchers', but he's going for the team anyway. Like Robbo said, Freddy's the coach and should get the team he wants. I hope the Blues win and Latrell comes back for game 3, by hook or by crook, and has a blinder.

That said, if the Blues lose in Perth Freddy has to take responsibility.

It's like the crooked strata company that manages one of my investment properties (an apartment). Instantly she started screaming at me and saying 'HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY ACADEMIC INDEPENDENCE!!! I AM INDEPENDENT!! I GRADED YOU INDEPENDENTLY AND THIS WAS NOT PERSONAL!!!' I was like 'eeeerm I never said that, I just asked you for a breakdown of the mark so that I can do better next time'. This dragged on for 18 months (well past my graduation) because the 'independent' head of school backed her all the way. After graduating (first class honours so it had zero impact on my final grades) the dean of education called me in and was like 'I received your complaint... here's a new copy of your transcript, do you agree with your new mark for this subject? The eastern European lady is no longer with the uni and we have a new head of the law school... old head has been moved sideways... shhhhh okay?' I still wasn't happy due to the lack of procedure/independence in what happened there. But... I did take the new transcript and run

I wouldn't want Robbo as coach of NSW. Bellamy only won 2/9 because there isn't enough preparation time for a highly structured coach to make an impact. SOO suited to inspirational coaches capable of getting the best out of individuals.

Maybe. But Bellamy's record in GFs is 50% (including when his team was over the salary cap). His failure at Origin level might have more to do with his patchy record of getting teams up for big games.

Agree that, say, Meninga was a guy who was better suited to coach at Origin than club level.

I don't think there's any truth to Mitchell not wanting to be part of the Blues again but I definitely think there's some bridges there that need to be repaired.

The current group of coaches and advisers not only hung him out to dry but have continued to fuel the fire.

I keep hearing them talking about accountability and effort, lets flip that 180 and talk about the responsibilities of a leader. There's been no leadership from this NSW camp by throwing a 21yo under the bus, it's embarrassing and quite frankly every player working underneath that leadership group would be concerned about the way one of their co-workers has just been treated as it could just as easily happen to them. That's not a good culture, that's not a good environment.

I loved Freddy as a player but it's easy to see how he lost the respect of the playing group in 2009.

I get that Freddy can pick the team and all but why did the public scolding go on? IMO part of being a strong organisation is that you don't air your dirty laundry. Like sure drop Latrell, but NSW is one... QLD will be laughing at us over this.
