  • Chammas on Thursday: The Seven Moments that cost Latrell Mitchell his NSW Jersey

Well, the Fittler apologists STILL feel the need to justify their decision to axe Latrell, even though everyone else seems to have decided to keep their powder dry until after game 2:

    https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/06/20/...is-nsw-jersey/

I've looked at each of the reasons and am still less than convinced by their judgment of Latrell's culpability in the loss, or whether these moments are in any way the turning points they're held out to be. I also wonder if there will be a similar dissection on Nathan Cleary's game? Or Cody Walker's? Or Josh Morris's? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there won't be.

That reporter should write a story about the idiotic decisions from freddy that cost NSW victory. I guess the list would be so long that it would take too long for anyone to read.

I hope Queensland blitzes NSW 3-0.

        Spot on.
e.g. on Cody Walker's kick Latrell might have been offside if he'd chased the ball.
That said, Latrell doesn't have the highest of work rates, but we all know that and it's not a huge problem given what he can otherwise do.

Chammas said on air earlier in the week that he couldn't believe that Latrell had been dropped, so maybe he's trying to mend some fences.

I've noticed a lot of reporters who expressed horror at Latrell's omission have been back-tracking somewhat - to be fair, they've still got to report on Origin and getting access to Fittler and the players is still necessary. But still - the analysis leaves a lot to be desired.

I love Freddy as a Rooster but if the Blues lose game 2 he won't be in the job next year.

I read this earlier, absolute crap to pick apart his so called supporting moments. As said above, it'll make for good reading when all the players from the blues team game one get their own 7 bullet point list.

Latrell still news every day. I watched those videos because I had time to kill. Incredible that this witch hunt is still going, and incredible that Brandy Freddy and co don't hold any other player to the same standard.

Then again, what are Chammas and that going to report on? Boxing lessons with Danny Green? Holding hands in Scarborough Park? Shit series.

Looking forward to the next installment of this series where he shows all the time Cleary did F all - and instead of small 15sec clips it just shows the whole game...

This is now right up there with the Salem Witch Trials in the late 1600s.

What else can we blame Latrell for? How about the melting Antarctic ice sheet, the West African Ebola outbreak, the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and the encroaching influence of the Chinese Communist Party in Hong Kong.

I reckon Latrell is one of Xi Jinping's spys and his performance in game I was an attempt to undermine the state of NSW.

No one is more a Roosters fan than me so please no abuse , but we really need to look at Latrells performances and behaviourin a more realistic light , other than the 11 out of 10 performance a few months ago his on field performance has been ordinary and his aggression giving away penalties has be over the top . His origin performance was ordinary whether we like to admit it or not , so was Walkers , Creighton as well.I think we need to stop blaming everyone but themselves for being dropped from origin . They are professional and are paid well so there on field and off field performances matter.

Like I’ve said in other threads, there were a few poor performances in Origin 1, yet some of those individuals kept their jerseys without any fanfare or inquest. There is something else happening here - be it some as-yet unknown personal conflict or simply that because of his occasional freakish brilliance Latrell is held to a higher standard than other players - but stop telling me it is only about his form. Players like him pull it out when they need to and in Game 1, you’d like to win but you don’t NEED to. It was only a month or so ago he was touted as the best ever, so cutting him now is an epic overreaction.

Latrell was fantastic against Melbourne and very good against Saints. His form slide has more to do with Luke Keary being injured then anything else. Cooper Cronk spoke about his being dropped from SOO on Fox and was very enlightening. He spoke about how good the relationship is easy between Keary and Latrell, and how if they ask him to do something in a big game he rolls up the sleeves and gets it done. Did he play well in Origin 1? No definitely not. But he wasn't why we lost and the reaction has been way over the top from the coaches and the press

agreed, but some on here are very precious about latrell, he played crap, they know it, he got dropped. end of story. but i do agree some others who were picked ie - cleary shouldnt be there either.

This. If Maloney or Keary play SOO1 then Mitchell sees a lot more of the ball in attack and his lapses in defense are all forgiven. Fittler too dumb to realise it was his lack of loyalty to the players that won last year's series (I mean Maloney) that ultimately cost NSW.

Cody Walker...fmd. How the f*ck does a coach not know that playing against crap teams behind a dominant Souths forward pack a very different proposition to SOO?
