  • Women's SOO and the NRLW Roosters Squad

We're at that time of year folks, when you all get to take pot shots at the women's game, proving that your interest in League is partly homo-erotic (not that there's anything wrong with that ).

We haven't finalised our squad yet, but of those who have signed, we have 8 girls playing tonight. 7 for NSW and Karina Brown for Qld. Nita Maynard plays for the Kiwi women tomorrow.

In a boon for the club, Rick Stone will be coach of our women's team.

    It’s all QLD so far.

Gus patronising the players in commentary.

If Gould’s inane, repetitive, cliche-riddled commentary isn’t enough, the female commentator sounds like Wally Lewis on valium.

Watching on fox it was pretty good, Voss and finchy just called the game with no Gould bullshit to go with it, the women seem to play a pretty decent free flowing game, no holding down niggle, good hits in defence, no cheap shots, I was surprised that I enjoyed it more than I thought.

funny how commentators can make or break some games, shame that fox can’t broadcast the grand final or origin.

Good win for the Blues. Some really committed defence.
Roosters girls all went well. Kirra Dibb looks likely.

She's a North Sydney Bear and I can see why they've only lost one game this year. Maddie Studdon was good too.

Got my Saturday morning off to a laugh. LOL. Classic lines Spirit.

Otherwise I (with volume muted) thoroughly enjoyed the game. NSW played a great brand of footy. Maddy Sutton was at her best, Kirra Dibb a constant threat who didn't let up in defense. The girls did us proud under the lights at North Sydney's picket fence. I loved it.

The Qld half Brigginshaw ….. never seen one player get pulled up for so many forward passes in the one game ! Dibb the NSW 5/8 was good too and has a decent kick too. The NSW no.8 was also good, made a number of strong runs.
I wonder how long before they look at moving it from Nth Sydney Oval. As nice as the ground is, if they fill it up and have to start turning people away, they may want to move it to a 15-20,000 stadium as the numbers wanting to go continue to increase every year.

I was impressed with the defensive efforts especially Southwell (#13) who is coming to the Roosters . Simaima (#8 Roosters capt) was also very strong. Loved seeing QLD get picked apart.

I have a good feeling that the Roosters WNRL side will go one better this year and hopefully Brisbane will suffer

I dont know if this game should be on prime time tv. I'm all for women rugby league but maybe replay it on Saturday morning as a curtain raiser for the mens netball

That’s how the NRL get govt funding. Promote the sport to all and to run a women’s league that is televised.
