Head gear does not prevent concussion in any way. If any thing it creates concussion. The reason i say it creates concussion is due to the confidence that kids get when they wear it. They believe they wont get hurt wearing it so they go harder and usually get injured, either by getting the head on the wrong side of a tackle or not having the right technique. The head gear has been around along time and was developed years ago when there was no study or research done on concussion( MRI machines). Head gear is just a product sold to footy players and concerned parents. One thing head gear does do and that is it helps prevent cuts to the head from knee, elbow, other head clash impacts.and thats about all. Its like mouth guards. The only reason you use them is to prevent cutting someone open with your teeth. A study years ago proved that mouth guards dont help with concussion either. There was a reason behind wearing mouth guards and that was by biting down on the mouth guard it strengthened the neck muscles which stabilised the head and reduced the likelihood of concussion. Mouth guards to help keep teeth in place after an impact.

Perhaps Keary can incorporate Canadian's toughest boxer to KO George Chuvalo's neck and jaw training?

"I think my physicality enabled me to be better at certain things. For example, a fast runner may have longer calves and this attribute will help him succeed. What helped me a lot is the fact that I have a very short neck. If I had a neck like a stack of dimes, you can bet I couldn't take a good shot. But the fact that I had a short neck and worked on it a lot (as opposed to most fighters who don't work on their neck muscles) definitely helped. I would stand on my head against a wall and move my head back and forth, side to side, for half an hour or so while talking on the phone. This strengthened my shoulder and girdle area. I also chewed a lot of bubblegum and that helped develop my jaw muscles, which stood out prominently when I was younger." George Chuvalo

That's my thinking too. We are going alright at the moment but bring back Keary and Jake and we should get back to being the dominant team in the comp. I think at our best we win this thing but there are always other factors sadly.
