I very much doubt that signing Mortimer would place either Anasta or Pearce under any pressure of retaining their positions in first grade, The only way Mortimer can play firsts is if our present halves are unavailable through injury, suspension or to play rep games, which is becoming less and less likely as the seasons roll on.

Mortimer's signing very much for these - esp. injury - reasons. He's more likely to get a run here than at Parra. In any case, if he goes ok, that's good. if not, well, he wouldn't be that expensive.

2 things. Firstly, why the heck is Mortimer playing Reses? Coz he is not damn good enough to play firsts. He is over rated and played firsts coz of his name only. 2nd, he is not quick so those complaining about our supposed lack of pace being a major problem, he is not going to solve it. And last year, when we made a grand final, we scored more length of the field tries than any other team! Not bad for a team of slow crocks! The team has hardly changed in the back line from 2010 to 2011. Speed, or lack of, is not our problem. Its lack of discipline and only playing footy for 40 minutes. Not 80.
As for that idiot Rothfield. Anyone notice how quiet he has gone since the Sharks have let their interest in Carney be known? He has definitely taken his foot off the pedal in regards to slandering other teams, coz he knows he is about to cop it himself. He is nothing but a coward.
