  • Goalkicking

I love Latrell. I think he is one of the best young players I have ever seen. Yet I still worry about his goalkicking. I mentioned it in another post last week. Maybe its hard to say but he cost us another match last week with that miss not far from the posts. He is such a fine athlete but I'm wondering if he could use some more specialist coaching. Anyone think Flanagan could take over next year?

It’s something we’ve struggled with ever since Maloney left, Flanagan is probably a more consistent kicker than Lats so if he is coming to us for next year I’d have him as first choice

One one hand Latrell seems to want responsibilities like playing #6 or the goalkicking responsibilities. I wonder if he would be better off without any extra pressure.

I think it would be wise to give someone else a crack for a game but we don’t have anyone besides Tauks who isn’t the greatest kicker himself

Very inconsistent. Can nail one from the sideline then miss a much easier one. He must be around 80% so you can't really complain about that.

Yeah some guys you just know they don't have that much natural ability. Latrell can nail them from anywhere. He is also a very long and pure striker of the ball. He is also the leading pointscorer in the comp so it might seem a silly comment but I think a lot of us would be very worried if he had to slot one from the left sideline to win the comp.

You would think so , but I reckon the more difficult the kick and the more pressure there is the more likely Lats would kick it !

I agree. No more kicking or 5/8 for Lats in 2020. Let him rediscover his love of the game and centre.

Wouldn't sack him because of last week. Sure, missed one he should have got (it faded and ended up between the posts - but after it had passed the goal line) but he hit one over from the sideline.

Fox says he's kicking at 75% this year which is acceptable, but you'd like him to be closer to 80%

He has probably won us more games with his goal kicking, than lost overall. There are only a handful of teams with a good consistent goal kick, panthers somehow have two.
