They look to buy/produce creative halves, Womanly would never be satisfied with 5 yrs of mediocrity

I disagree with that. We have had just as good a roster over the last few years. The difference between the two clubs is Manly has stuck by their players, who in turn have repaid the faith by accepting responsibility for their individual performances and uniting as a team.

If Manly were the roosters, Brett Stewart and Watmough would have been sacked, Glenn Stewart would have walked, remember we got rid of George Rose, we would put Foran out of position at halfback and paired him up with an overpriced hack like Anasta, due to players like Anasta and Minichiello consuming the salary cap we would have to let go of players we actually need (like Linnett), inevitably the players would starting blaming each other and the coach, and the best coach in the comp in Hasler would be sacked. Manly would be a complete rabble like us.

Pearce would have been just as good as DCE and Foran at Manly. Whilst DCE and Foran have some brilliant individual traits, neither of them are superstars, they are just playing as part of a well-balanced and well-coached team.

The more I see Foran play, the more I realise how much we got it wrong with Pearce. Pearce is a tough little 5/8th like Foran, yet we have been trying to turn him into a DCE-style halfback.

Round 2 we basically did beat them!!!! (And that was without Carney.)
A lot has happened since then.

Meh they just had a lucky roll of the dice IMO... Tigers, Saints and Storm all choked, Lockyer got injured (destroying the Broncos) and a they wete left with a shoddy NZ outfit who were not worthy of a premiership.

Can't really complain because that's how we got our last premiership...

And yeah... Hopoate/Evans fired (too youngsters who likely would have been on not more than 55k.)
At the same time our Dally M start 5/8 decided to run amok, which was compounded by injuries to Cherro, Perrett, SKD, FPN, Symonds, (Mose?), Conn... I forget all the injuries we had and probably misnamed a few, but we had a LOOOOT + Carney. Then there's Watts and Piggy.

Our plan was for Carney to play like 2010, Piggy to be a filler (with Watts firing up mid-season... not at his girlfriend), Conn not getting injured + playing like 2010, Perrett not getting injured...etc. We had a hell of a lot of bad luck whereas Manly's 2 risky juniors fired. That combined with weak opposition in a GF made an ordinary team win an ordinary season.

5/8 or Hooker are Paerce's ideal positions

All his junior footy was at 5/8, but The Roosters have always been a club playing blokes in positions they cannot play

FWIW we got rid of Watts although he was found not guilty. Would it have helped if we'd stuck by Watts? He's the only guy I can think of who we have struck off for criminal allegations (and FWIW he may not have done anything? Prosecutors don't usually drop charges unless the informant is found to be a nutcase who probably lied to them originally and cannot be trusted... we will never know how his ex girlfriend got into his flat, or who called the cops... or why.)

Myles was sacked... so what? He was leaving anyway.

We stuck by Sa oooh how that helped us. Or did it?

Carney... FWIW we did stand up for through the pill incident, his drink driving, him burning a guy's fart and multiple other issues including poor form. How many last chances can you give a guy?

... Can't really say we're a wussy club that sacks people too quickly.

                        No.
                        The guy is trouble.
Moved up here & was immediately a bad influence on the younger players around him.
                        Good riddance.

we stuck by SA, Really??? He was an easy sacking for the club

He was sacked more through not reaching his potential than anything else

They were stronger than us this year. We were stronger than them last year. They were stronger than us the previous 5 years, we were a whole lot stronger than them the 5 years before that. Its called sport, get over it.

They lack the infrastructure and train in some backwards park. So what is it, what have they got that we lack? They win at least a comp every decade whereas we win one every 27 yrs.

They do it their way and don't give a rats what others say or think.

They use every resource available to back their coach and players.

They don't react to appease others they act to suit their own agenda.

I really respect their attitude as a club. I wish Easts would adopt a similar attitude.
