  • Game Managers

Felt like the fix was on yesterday. In the first 40 mins we had three or four dodgy penalties to help Newcastle out of their half, a couple of other bad calls to add to that, such as a knock on against us when it was a Knights player stripping the ball out after a kick through. Kept hearing the Fox commentators saying "that's a harsh call" several times.
Then when we jumped to a lead, and they realised it would be too hard to cheat us, they start the cover up , and we were even awarded a try off a knock on to Butcher!
And why can't Cordner talk to the refs like Burgess and C Smith can?
Really does feel like last season all over again

I consider halves to be game managers, a bit like what Cronk did in the GF,
So I would like too see Cronk next year with a trainers jumper doing a similar role (a bit like what Alfie does for the Broncos)

As far as referees and Captains go, might need to invite them to some training sessions

They have shown they can ref evenly, just choose not to.

Cordener is Australian capt ffs and should be treated with respect by refs. He has every right to question decisions. Achieved more in game than some of the show pony pantsmen

I Suppose if they make a dodgy call they want to move on from it as soon as possible to reduce the focus on it

Fair point. If you're an U15 player and a call's wrong then you are taught to move on and accept it. There's always some biatch who lets bad decisions get to their head and can't move on. Meanwhile, the grown-ups ignore the BS, play to the whistle and win more games than they lose as a result.

Once a call has been made, there's nothing you can do about it. I can see why refs and more talented players just move on right away.

Badger was up to his old tricks from the pocket, whenever we made a tackle he would immediately scream out our players names to get off the knights yet when we were tackled it was met with milking or play the ball properly .
He couldn't wait to signal try for safiti whilst all our tries were sent upstairs to the bunker in the hope they could find some reason to overturn it.
How Klein could see Moga get that ball down definitively amongst the roosters defenders was another rort because once he sent it up as try they couldn't take it off him.

All true for the close observer. The Safiti try for mine showed the ball hitting the ground twice...the second time in an improved position. And Moga's try ended up being Moga's call. I hated that one as he's not one of my favourite ex-Roosters at all. But bias aside how could anyone possibly tell it was a try. Ryan Hall was hesitant and should have moved into and under Moga quicker. I think he underestimated Moga's strength. Hard to rule against our tries though.

The game managers gave their game away during the interview with the girl referee on league life.
She admitted they prepare for each game concentrating on individual players.
Fair dinkum............What happened to just applying the rules of league no matter who's playing?

No wonder Smith gets away with murder.

I thought the knock-on for Watson's no try was a rort too. Tupouniua made a 40 metre break and we had them cut to pieces. Klein was on the spot and called it back for review, meanwhile we lose our advantage and the Knights get to rest and then reset their defensive line. It's the subtle influence of refs that you cannot measure.

I thought that Ryan Halls fat thigh stopped the ball getting to the ground...stuff like that should immediately be called a no try, and if you can actually see the ball touch the ground, reverse the call

Sorry mate I'm 55, I'll cheer from the sidelines.
In my line of work we are big on pattern recognition, it's so obvious they were trying to rort us for the first 56 minutes and then they backed off when we jumped far enough away they couldn't get the result they wanted. Makes my blood boil when see a South's game and see how they're reffed.
