I guess that's Verrills. Interesting how our tactics have changed though. Did we let Watson go because of this tactical change?

It's always annoying when a little guy constantly eats metres through dummy-half runs and late offloads. Guessing you make more metres in aggregate by sending large players at these guys + getting Teddy/Toops/Hall/Manu/Latrell...etc to make all your metres for you. While a cheeky Watson dummy-half run can make some decent metres... Latrell doesn't need a cheeky gap to make metres.
How good would it have been to have him as a back-up hooker this year! Don't know when his contract ran out, but honestly, sometimes when players want out of their contracts we should just say 'no'!

That leaves Keary, Lam and Flanagan and I'm sure they will all get rotated through. Walker is years away and will maybe play some reserve grade next year. I'm hearing they are looking at someone who can play in the halves and at hooker for the 14 jersey. They had best results and a more balanced team with Wing and Mortimer than the other rotation options in recent years.
SideLineEye Is that a descriptor of what they would like to find, or has a particular player been identified already?

i think the theory is that when a player wants out of a club, they dont give 100% so you are better off letting them leave ?

Watson bailed before the 2018 season as he was ambitious to nail down a run on position. At the Roosters he was being used in a Daniel Mortimer way, back up hooker etc. So no way he would have stayed with us. He was also looking for more money at the Knights and has played well for them.

Gee Flanagan has had some great touches today ( yes only NSW Cup). He just threw a screamer of a cut out ball to hit the winger on the chest and set up a try. He is a ready made FG quality half who will go good with Keary

Add to that he's moved the Sharks around in FG and not been overawed. An incredibly astute pickup by the club. I would not be surprised if Cronk had something to do with it.
