Bernie Gurr is living in California with his American wife, and kids.
The scene has changed a lot since he was here.
Now everything is PC, 'duty of care', 'counselling', 'caring and sharing', 'workplace rights', 'breach notices', 'media appearances', 'image' etc etc etc.
Noyce is doing just fine under this new system.
Softly softly is what's required today.
Players take advantage of nothing and nobody.
They try to at their own peril...as was shown with Myles and Carney.
SJ, all Smith wanted was for Carney to get off the drink or at least moderate his intake. Not to much to expect of a professional footballer.
I don't think Smith pushed him too hard at all. The problem was that Noyce and Politis didn't push him enough in the right direction - out of our Club before the rot really set in. If it was up to Smith he would have been gone long before he was, and the Club would have been in a better state than it ended up.
Smith is doing his best to clean up the joint. Unfortunately the softly softly approach of others has frustrated him in his efforts.
