I'm with you on that. We tried letting the video ref rule on forward passes before and it didn't work. Just leave it up to the refs, they get most of them right anyway.

"I think they're being really pedantic on forward passes. You've got to be sure. If you're unsure, let the play keep going".

I agree. If there's one thing worse than a missed forward pass, it's a fair pass called forward! (Anyone remember the 2010 GF?!).
I do and it wasnt the forward pass issue for me but the foot in the stands that ensured the rort was on.

I would rather see them let go too Hawkeye. It's too big of a price to pay to lose possession when attacking for a marginal forward pass that gains little or no advantage anyway.

Teams are pretty close overall these days in tactics and standards, so it often comes down to errors and penalties deciding games.

It's all about the first trajectory from the hands.

Ffs...what hope have we got when a long term RL journalist gets this fundamental point so wrong.
Completely agree Jack - Kent seems to at times completely ignore logic to make his point I think. Of course he has to know that the ball can travel forward and it’s the trajectory out of the hands that’s important. O think he just ignores logic to make his point and thinks everyone else is too stupid to realise what he is saying is shit.

The Storm have been regularly passing forward out of dummy half for years and and its all pretty much acceptable.

If its forward from the hands, call it. If not, its not a forward pass. Simple.

This all leads into what constitutes a knock on as well. How often do we see a ball go back only to be called for a knock on?

It will be the greatest Roosters GF win ever. It will be the best.

Everyone is okay with human error until it’s against the team they follow. Technology has done just as much harm to the game as it has good. Checking everything will turn it into a 4 hour game which I won’t follow anymore.

                  I agree. Unless it's Souths.

Those pricks won off a blatant forward pass the other night.

Definitely, remember the old days when we didn't get 1000 slow motion replays and over analysis. The commentators didn't crap on about decisions. While I like the ability to see the vision that the new technology gives us, it doesn't seem to improve the errors made by game officials. I think we probably notice more errors because in the past we didn't notice.
If they just got more calls correct on the field in terms of forward passes I think people would be happy. I know the game is a lot quicker now days but sometimes you really wonder what game the officials are watching.

and **** Souths I never want to see them in a GF again.

Wash your mouth out with soap for even suggesting such a nightmare! NRL HQ and its officials would ensure a win to the Filthy Vermin. Greenturd would probably pay GI out of NRL coffers to come out of retirement for the match, for 1 last hurrah and a guaranteed victory.

They could easily make hawkeye rule on forward passes by allowing for the velocity vector towards the oppsition goal line of the player passing the ball. Computers are so quick now, they could calculate it in a split second. You could even do this with an artificial intelligence setup using a learning algorithm.

It’s just a matter of time.
