Flight to Perth to watch the mighty Chooks then a short 3 hour flight to Bali for a bit of R & R.....sounds like a plan to me!

Roosters in Perth 2020-2022

Will definitely be making the trip to Perth, probably in 2021, as will probably go to Magic Round again next year and also plan to have a few weeks O/S as well in 2020.
If you are going to fly that far, might as well take a few days of leave and enjoy the area. Haven't been to Perth for around 10 years.
I've enjoyed my yearly trip to Adelaide, even though we've only managed 1 win out of 3.Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Interesting how you say that our home game in magic round doesnt include tickets but the club gets paid to have their home game there. Does that mean they are giving some of that income back to members then for losing a game? So the club gets full membership income and doesnt need to provide a seat yet can double dip and take income from the venue as well. Doesnt seem fair.
For the perth/central coast games the roosters have to at least run the event, but I believe the magic round is all handled by the NRL (like in the finals)
I believe the magic round offers clubs to put their hands up to sacrifice a home game for the round, and the clubs that did share a slice of the pie (probably of ticket sales) while NRL would also want $ but I'm guessing that would be from the QLD govt and sponsorship
Taking away games where areas are wanting them is a really good deal for the clubs, that's why so many Sydney clubs do it as they struggle with home crowd intakes (especially those who have to pay rent for suburban grounds like Manly). The clubs that play at big stadiums like SCG Trust and ANZ, and now Bankwest are also helped, hence why so many do it. Again as an example, clubs like Manly don't though because they fear their core fan base will drop too low moving that far away from their spiritual home
Overall, these relocation games are good for the game and the areas that don't have regular NRL, but a rough deal on members. With Sydney clubs struggling with membership and competition for fans/resources wouldn't be surprised in the future if half of Sydney club games are played away, paired with an interstate government or paid by the NSW govt/NRL to even play in big NSW regional areas
Greenberg was mentioning this sort of thinking as an option of 'relocation' rather than physically moving a team, playing more Sydney teams away in new areas. Good for growth and money, bad for sydney and it's members. Hard to argue though when teams like us who are successful only pull 9k on a beautiful Sunday day, where free kids tickets were offered even if it was against the last placed titans
NRL has more faith in governments and TV rights than it does in its membersLast edited by NorthChook; 08-06-2019, 04:41 PM.

At least if they are moving games, they move the game with an interstate side like they have with Melb in Adelaide. I believe the WA game could be against the Raiders so that should be a better crowd than what would turn out in Sydney. If its the Storm then I reckon we are getting robbed again as it will be 3 years in a row that we havnt had such a blockbuster played in our backyard.FVCK CANCER

I get all that but I dont agree with people accusing the Roosters of having poor crowd numbers off the back of the current premiers playing the stone motherless last placed side in the comp compounded by the fact that their fans would not have traveled and we were playing at the SCG. 9k to that game was pretty good in the overall scheme of things. Lets say if it was Manly or St George or the Panthers, Eeels, etc running last, that game would have got at least 12-15k. It was an interstate team running last so it was never going to be a big crowd.

Still even against last place teams as crap as the Titans, and I know all the reasons people aren't bothered to go out, but 9k on a Sunday in perfect conditions won't be viewed as sustainable in the future, when there are more lucrative offers to take games elsewhere. I'm just saying expect more moved games as times go on for Sydney teams even if its rough on members. If not many people are turning up and are just watching on tv, makes more sense to move it, get paid more and people will watch it on tv anyway

I get all that. It makes sense but if they took that game on Sunday to Mudgee or Wagga or Tamworth Darwin for example and packed it out with 9500, would it be viewed as a success? Same numbers and a club loses a home game.
In their eyes, money > home fans
NRL happy to sacrifice tradition for money, unless there is more money offered to keep tradition
I think like games against the Titans are great examples of games for the roosters to move, although I would be disappointed as a member as I go to every game I can in Sydney. Just looking at both perspectives
The game against the cowboys other than the team always losing on the Central Coast was a great decision, that game would have got 14k in Sydney but Sydney fans can still travel to there easy enough as well as develop RL in the area

Even a club like souths are having to move more games each season, and they have a lot more members. This year they moved a game for magic round, sunshine coast and central coast. In previous years they've been to perth and cairns

Yes, the club gets the money for moving the home game but at what cost to its members especially those who are already frustrated at the current ground situation and having to pay a full 12 game priced membership and only getting 9 or so. They should reduce the pricing or return something else to the members who get nothing at all for the games they either have to spend big money to get to or not get to at all.FVCK CANCER
