I expect Joey Leilua to come in for Simonsson, with Cotric going to the wing and Leilua in the centres. Need to watch out for Hodgson stripping the ball

Agreed on the strip rule - need it to come up in the media again this week so the refs have it in the back of their mind. Last thing we need in this close of game is for the refs to be unsure when its legal or not

What was 'the strip' that triggered the change in interpretation of the strip rule?

I remember seeing a game where there was some kinda oddity. I think 1 tackler went in, made contact, a 2nd 'tackler' pushed him forward to help out (then bolted), the attacker slipped the tackle and then the original tackler did a freakish strip from behind that was rules a 2 man strip because 2 guys made contact.

It was something odd like that. IMO the refs should be clear that ALL OTHER RULES STILL APPLY!!! For example:
            - Hand on the ball... still a penalty.
            - Offside after the tackle... still a penalty.
            - Ball falls out... knock-on against the defender.

They need to stop thinking about the new interpretation and focus on what else is going on. The new interpretation prevents an oddity in the rules where you can't strip the ball after a tackle break has been made. It DOESN'T allow you to have your hands all over the ball in EVERY tackle.

If we tried exploiting a 'loophole' like that (e.g. Maloney pegging shoes into the crowd) they'd IMMEDIATELY have a chat and ban it mid-season. Why can't they do that with strips? I hope they do it during the finals coz it'll fark up the Storm and Raiders' momentum big time.

Totally agree. I don't think it was necessary and I could see it would cause problems as soon as I saw it. It's just asking for confusion

It's such a disadvantage to the attacker and as Robbo says, there is hardly any risk to the defenders as its so split second they barely are getting penalised and give an excuse to have a hand on the ball just before the play the ball

Seems that the rule came from the media and commentators, only ones I recall carrying on about how it was. I don't think coaches asked for it although some are coaching it better than others

Robbo doesnt seem to coach it at all, I've only seen genuine one on one strips from Latrell, none of the drop offs like souths/raiders do

They need to change it back to just one one one before a second defender touches - that makes it more exciting anyway because its such a big play if you do pull it off, not this crap where hands are all over it causing the strip or knock on. There is too much good wrestling in the game to include it how it currently stands

Been a while since we have beaten a good team, probably all the way back to when we were decimated by injuries and beat the Raiders in magic round in Brisbane which was 3 months ago.

Think Sunday will be a really good test to see where we are right now.

Not sayin the Chooks wont win but when was the last time the Roosters beat the Raiders in Canberra? The longer the better because Canberra cant keep beating the Roosters forever.
No Friend no Cordner & no SST so I think the Raiders are favourites. Josh Hodgson is the man the Roosters have to shut down, everything starts with him.

                        And throwing forward passes galore.

We need to kick some 40/20s.

How many Raiders players would make our team? One. Hodgson.

                          Easts by plenty.

That's a pretty good way to look at it Tom.

Not many at all, but apart from HodgePodge Id have to find a spot somewhere for Bateman. He floors me with his skill, smarts and intensity in a relatively small bod for a forward.
