I agree to an extent on that point. As said before, something is only an offence if its reported as an offence. Some seem to get away with a lot more than others which leads to animosity from the viewers.

Leading with the elbow appears to be commonplace and accepted behaviour. See the asofa-solamona hit on Matt Prior earlier this year for a particularly egregious example that saw asofa-solomona escape without so much as a slap on the wrist.
