    ”Too angry”
    ”Too intense”
    ”can’t score points”

yet here we are. Facing the coach who finally galvanised the “perennial” into winners.

I can’t help but like Stuart, contrary to many who know him, I love the fact that he wears his heart on his sleeve and you know where you stand with him.

the complete rugby league duality is Trent Robinson.
Seems controlled , measured. Intelligent more than street wise. maybe both ?

I think Canberra might win. I still believe we can go back to back....I just feel they have momentum and more to prove at this stage of the season.

    Dont freak if we lose

This Raiders side is the first time in his career they Stuart has improved a team. The 3 other teams he coached he left in far worse shape then they were in when he arrived.

Got a soft spot for Ricky also.. I don’t buy it when people say he just showed up at the right time in 2002.. the competition is just too tough for a team to win without a decent coach imo let alone get into 3 GFs in a row... credit where it is due he coached us to a premiership and that alone gives him a green pass for life in my book.

Yeah Ricky frequently goes a bit bourko. I too have a soft spot for him from his time with us, he did help break a long drought for us. Both he and our club suffered at the end of his tenure when Mr Smiley left us high and dry.

I know one of his kids has pretty bad autism - he hasn't had an easy life.

This game? Well Trewhella you've been following Easts as long as me and just like you get a feeling when we are gonna lose to the wooden spooners, as we have many many times, I get the feeling we might just pull something special out for this game.

You're forgetting that in 2009 he took perennial strugglers Cronulla to a share of first place after 26 rounds.

i think the Roosters demise had everything to do with Fittler's retirement, and very little to do with R. Stuart.

This will be an occasion for the raiders imo. Tough without the boys, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. This team won't go quietly but might not get too emotional about it as a new season begins in a couple of weeks.

I see a lot of similarities in this years Raiders to 2002 Roosters.... Canberra have evry thing in there favour to win on Sunday been freezing Temps etc home game and all.
This game will make or break Ricky.IF the raids beat us I actuallexpect to see them in the GF and if not us then Melbourne.
Our blokes on Sunday must do what they did to Melbourne in the GF -Play football and stay out of the dirty stuff because i expect Camberra to go hard -niggle and sledge the crap out of them.

Yeah sad part is he went missing in The Penriff GF and second half of Bullchocks GF.... For such a great player and leader for me he was let down in those two

Agree with you here mate on all points. Think we might drop this one but only a bump in the road, not too dramatic.

Ricky would have circled this one on his calendar at the start of the year no doubt.

Did he improve it though? He's been there for years during which time their performance has gone up and down.

They're still IMO a bunch of rascals with unauthodox tactics who have gone under the radar as a result of everybody targeting us, Souffs and the Storm. I'm not convinced they have actually become any more skillful or disciplined.

Typical rookie error and it's what any rubbish coach does... they'll pick the big guy over the little guy any day of the week coz they can barge through people (and hence look 'better') at lower levels.

That said, there's a second part to it... 'too small AND too much trouble'. One can only speculate how JT woulda survived in 1st grade under the Easts media spotlight. I suspect his career woulda ended before it even started.

Evangelical was was meant to imply that his career was gone, nobody thought he could coach etc, but years later here he is with a legitimate chance to bring us down.
