I don’t begrudge Ricky’s success at Canberra but I am not a fan of his methods. They play more like the Storm than the Storm. Tomorrow there will be knees to the back, excessive pressure on the neck, relentless holding down of the tackled player.

They will win the penalty count 12-4 and you can be sure he will still blame the referees if they lose.

I hate this Canberra team. They’re grubs.

Will be a very hard game. Feel like we need to win it to prove ourselves.

Typical rookie error and it's what any rubbish coach does... they'll pick the big guy over the little guy any day of the week coz they can barge through people (and hence look 'better') at lower levels.

That said, there's a second part to it... 'too small AND too much trouble'. One can only speculate how JT woulda survived in 1st grade under the Easts media spotlight. I suspect his career woulda ended before it even started.
        That's an excellent insight.

The old myth about Stuart knocking back JT, its an easy slice of ignorance to fall back on.
Stuart knew what JT was about more than anyone, regardless of whether that happened or not where JT was on the field and off it would have probably be the smartest decision.
He was not ready to be the replacement for someone like Fittler

I don't mind Ricky, I love it when people are blindingly passionate, his rants are epic right up there with anything Toovs or Dessie have dished up over the years.

              Myth. Massive myth.

Won 132 from 305 as a club coach since Brad Fittler retired. Qualified teams twice for finals. This is his 13th season as an NRL coach since then.

This will be only the third season in 13 that his teams have made the finals.

And yet he is probably the highest-paid coach.

I like his style. Seems dinkum. Many aren't.

Ricky’s as down to earth as they come and right or wrong, calls it how he sees it. He’s got time for anyone and not only for the Raiders but for the local community down here. He’s also got very fond memories of his time at the Roosters and can spin many a yarn about it. Jeeze he’s got some interesting stories.

yet here we are. Facing the coach who finally galvanised the “perennial” into winners.

I can’t help but like Stuart, contrary to many who know him, I love the fact that he wears his heart on his sleeve and you know where you stand with him.

the complete rugby league duality is Trent Robinson.
Seems controlled , measured. Intelligent more than street wise. maybe both ?

I think Canberra might win. I still believe we can go back to back....I just feel they have momentum and more to prove at this stage of the season.
Freezing cold, Poms will love it
                      Dont freak if we lose
Well said and we may well lose. If we do all is not lost. We might also concoct a magnificent victory. I agree about sticky, he coached us to our 1st title in 27 years back in 2002. I can’t not like him, he is a Rooster as well.

Bit of a stupid comment - can’t name too many coaches who leave teams when the team is flying - it’s the nature of the job - coaches move on get moved on when it’s not working so great anymore. If it’s working they generally get resigned.

I don't think it has to get personal. 2002 was great... excellent result and Sticky will go down in Roosters history accordingly.

But... we sacked him for a reason and we're more than happy with our current mentor. Raiders are happy with him.

He's like an ex girlfriend from another life (quite literally... I mean how's my ex from 2002 going? Would I take her back if given the choice?) Such questions don't exactly occupy a lot of my time.

The stuff he does with autism is incredible. Massive props for that.

Very close to home for him but he goes well above and beyond.
