  • Sin Bins wtf?

Not sure if you seen it but in the Tigers/Bulldogs game tonight there were two sin binnings for slightly late, hardly forceful hits . Luke Garner and Chris Smith were the unfortunate players, one from each side. In previous games /years these would not have even drawn a penalty.

If this is the standard to be applied, we will end up with 5 players against 6 tomorrow in Canberra. And Souths vs Melbourne will be 4 on 4.

Two of the most bizarre calls I gave seen in one game. And quite scary.

Wtf is going on with our game?

A bit concerning going into the finals series shortly.

Thought the Adam Blair sin bin was very very soft too.

They have had to justify the JWH suspension.
At least Cooper will be protected now, or will he?

Meanwhile, Michael Gordon yesterday received a bigger fine than the one Sam Burgess did for knocking out Moylan... for not getting off the field quick enough after being sin binned!

Watched the Tigs game last, just another example of over officiated bs from the nrl. That's not what the sin bins for.

The sin binnings in the Tigers-Bulldogs game were a disgrace.

Almost everyone in NRL HQ needs sacking; especially that clown Greenturd.

If this is the direction of the game going forward then lord help us all.

Complete rubbish. They often under react to these sorts of things then when they finally decide to clamp down completely over react. I think after this weekend they will get back on track with these types of penalties at least - they are coping a pasting from the commentators of the game.

IMO both sin binning in that game warranted penalties at worst. The refs shot themselves in the foot when they over reacted by sin binning the tippies player in the 1st half. As such the refs had no option but to send the dogs player to the bin at the end of the game to remain consistent. You could see that the ref when explaining it his decision to the Bulldogs player. He kind off said (in not so many words) "this doesn't deserve a sin bin but if I don't send you I'll be in trouble for not being consistent.

I'm hoping the refs boss comes out on Monday and admits the mistake otherwise we are in for many more of these before the finals.

Unfortunately this is what happens when you have rookies refs in charge. They overreacted on the first sin bin and in the spirit of being consistent they chose to bin the second incident. We all hate the Suttons, Klein and Cummins but the alternative isn’t any better.

I think they knew he was out injured for 2 weeks so fought the charge as he was out anyway.
This way he now has no carry over points.

Hope so mate. If the game becomes "hold" with no force allowed in the tackles fans will walk.

The last one, where Smith was binned, wasn't even a penalty. (I missed the first one so can't comment).
The game is turning into a complete joke.

The reason "late and forceful" . forceful is now a problem, maybe touching will be a problem soon

I was also watching the Wallabies v All Blacks last night and that was just as bad. After a 10 minute stoppage for a hard hit on the back of the shoulder on the Australian captain Hooper, the referee sends the NZ forward off and though many Aussie fans were happy with that decision, I lost interest and switch to that crap NRL game last night. That decision handed the game to the Wallabies...and the home fans went home happy BUT IMO you can't be happy with beating the All Blacks unless you are beating them fair and square.

Here is another... I was watching on Kanyo and old game between the Roosters and Cronulla from 1987. It was funny to see how different the game was. At one stage Hugh Mcgahan gets kneed in the face while on the ground. The trainer comes onto the field to attend to him. He is heavily knocked out. Cronulla have the ball and they're playing all around him and the ref Kevin Roberts does not stop the game...Finally Cronulla drops the ball and the game stops and then Roberts goes to check up on Mcgahan...That's about 2-3 minutes after he gets knocked out. In the end Mcgahan has to be taken out of the field and 4 Roosters players have to carry him out...It was soo funny how things were in those days.

I watched that game Jack and broke up laughing at the last sin bin. WTF doesn't do it justice.

I know you don't watch most of the Fox league shows but this is bound to be featured. In fact I am a little overwhelmed at the pedantic and critical nature enveloping our game.

A couple of nights back I watched one of their classic games from the 60's. An Easts Souths game from 68 that I and I think a couple of other old codgers might have caught up with so they might comment too.

It made for decent viewing and was a good product to sell. If we don't watch this nitpicking refs running the result and player's careers stuff, then the game is in for one almighty wake up call.

Next we'll have ten minutes in the bin and a bloke carried off for a dislocated eyebrow. Some coaches after every free muffin they can get their hands on. I already know those who are switching off.
