First two Raiders tries were from offloads. A total of 18 for the match to our measly 3.

Didn't check the fulltime stats but half-time was like:
- Roosters 40% possession
- Raiders have like 3-4x as many tackle breaks and offloads
- Roosters have made more metres despite the Raiders having significantly more possession, tackle breaks and offloads
IMO it's always hard to play against teams like the Raiders because they're coached to strip on every defensive tackle, offload on every offensive run and run sideways, slipping tackles all over the place. They then have a very vocal hone crowd that causes a riot every time they want a penalty, so the refs get confused (by their odd tactics) and intimidated (by the crowd) into calling in their favour.
All 3 Raiders tries came off piggyback penalties. This win was special because the Raiders ALWAYS play this same style of footy and grind us into submission off the back of generous refereeing. Thus, it's a test of our composure rather than our ability.
Tomorrow we wake up outright 2nd (most likely). Warriors, Dragons, Panthers and Souths will be a tough run but we're now in the box seat for a top 4 finish.

They exploit the obstruction shepherds too, Whitehead's try another arsey one, i thought maybe Teddy lost track of Hodgson in behind Tapine the decoy.
They made 15 tackles to our 56 at one point in a 10 minutes period, on the Fox graphics.
No wonder our blokes were stuffed. I think Angus made that break around then too, when Ted and Victor were playing the ball.

Ok Intelligemt ones what if I said it was our tactic not theres..constantly offloading but marked= errors if you have confidence in your defence you can collect errors from the opposition...they are not dumb enough to let it happen all the times.
While coaches look how to Cheat in every possible way our coach is masterfull enough to come with different tacticsTwo things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Great post by the way. You have effectively outlaid the Raiders playbook apart from their harassment of the referees every ruck. Quite amusing as they often tie of both the ruck and pocket ones simultaneously. Coupled with Ricky haunting the sidelines it must be off putting.
Raiders are the Fox News of the top four. Sean Hannity eat your heart out.

Offloads are the outcome of our excellent defence, not a blight on our defence.
Teams are forced to play unstructured footy because we defend their structure so well, forcing a team to play ad-lib as much as Canberra did today should be viewed as a credit to our defence.
I thought on the whole we handled their second phase pretty well. We only conceded 2 linebreaks today against a team wit 60% possession.
Watching sides go away from what they have been practising all week and all year to play an off the cuff style of footy is what we want. One might even argue our coach egged them on before the game...

Offloads add extra work to our defence. The players think they have the player tackled and then the offloads comes out and others have to contend with a different player on that same tackle count...it's like the team have extra tackles in their set..The other thing is that the defence relaxes when they believe they have a player covered and can lead to try...One of those happened today when I think Bateman was tackled close to the try line and then released it backwards for a raiders player to take it and score...In a camera shot from behind, it shows Verrills seeing Bateman tackled and then turns his back heading back to the defensive line only to have that Canberra player who got the offload to go right past him.
