It isn't the end of the world, but it is still a farce that we sack a player who still contributes in proportion to his salary, but keep the likes of Anasta and Minichiello.

      "Optional third year fee" ?

      How does that work? please.

It was meant to read that his third year was optional. He was paid very well for 2 years and there was a third year as an option. The club negotiated a fee with him and he agreed then he reneged and dug his heels in.

He had a 2 yr contract with an option for a 3rd year, Ryles would have had the right to exercise the option, which he did. His contracted amount for the 3rd year would have been higher than last years contracted amount. This caused a Problem.

It aint that hard to understand.

It is if one is not aware of all the contract details...options can be both ways.

So I take it that the contract was written in stone, airtight...and if it's a lot of money and he doesn't get a contract at another club the Roosters will have to pay out his contract, every cent.

Not if an agreement was made......... and it looks as though the roosters and Ryles came to an agreement.

Plus my comment "it's not hard to understand" was in relation to what Horry wrote, not the specifics of the contract.

This one hurts but I see why they've done it.

                2 names:

                1. Tautua moga
                2. Dane evans

Simple as that. They see these two as future stars who's value will skyrocket within 3 years. Plus the fact we paid overs to keep symonds.

Evans and Moga will both play FG in 2012.

We still have 4 good front rowers in Tasi, JWH, Kennedy and Mose. Then throw in Evans and we have five which is about the perfect number. Plus, JWH's contract is up next year too so they probably want to sort that out quick smart.

                Still, I will miss Ryles

Yeah, the contract must have been an option in our favour or else we'd have to pay him out.

Let's see how the club spends it....

MY understanding is the third year option does not have Ryles under contract for the third year.
                    So no pay out.

Dissappointing but given what Horry said, so be it.

You can look at a players meters gained and that but also at how many penalties and drop balls he has had and Ryles was one of the best at that... with that said, I do feel he improved at the end of this year but not enough to getting off the chopping block. In that respect, he was always a liability. Onwards & Upwards!

This is true narners but after clearing Myles, Carney, Phil Graham, Conn, Riddell and Watts off the books surely there would have been enough in the piggy bank to upgrade contracts.

Also, its like we're getting 2 new signings with Aubbo and Kennedy due back.

All of this reeks of SBW

                          Good decision

Barring a handful of reasonable games he has been a passenger

They haven't cleared the decks until Mini and Anasta are both gone.
