We should of kept him for 1 more year.
How can we trust Kennedy will be back to his best after his ankle problems?
      I hope Evans is ready.
Seems like JWH will lead from infront in 2012. Who else is there?
No doubt in the future Evans will start in the #8 but i dont think it will be as early as round 1, so i'd expect JWH to start with either Tasi or Kennedy (depending on his injury)
Young forward pack. Will be good for the future though.

I would argue he played more than just a few, however he is still known for the penalty.

Don't have an issue with this. invest the money in our more promising forwards.

If losing Ryles for 2012 means keeping JWH for 2013 I'm happy with the club's decision. Unfortunately Ryles was seen as a serial offender by the refs and it's hard to lose that sort of a rep. If his 2012 was going to be anything like his 2011 then most people on here would have been calling for his head by round 6. Yes he was brilliant at the end of the year but so were JWH, Mose (albeit in short spurts), and Tasi. If Kennedy can come back next year and perform as well as or better than Ryles did late last year our forward pack will not have lost anything. And the club will have gained the ability to resign both Tasi and JWH to long term contracts, which is far better than Ryles for one more.

Although Ryles improved on his conceding of penalties late in the year I've always though it would be interesting to see aggregate metres gained/loss which included metres given up by players that give penalties away (metres lost being what the opposition gains on their kick for touch). I think that would show a forward's true overall worth.

Wow! Have to say I'm a little shocked. But I can see we need to put the money and faith in our younger crop of forwards coming through. I am a little bit concerned about the lack of experience in the forwards now though, but feel as long as Kennedy stays fit in 2012 (a big if given this year) then everything should be ok. With Tasi, Evans, MK and Mose we really do have fantastic potential there and I certainly won't miss Ryles's penalties and dropped balls.
It does sound like we are saving some money for a big signing or two though and this smells like Dollar-Bill to me.

Actually the coach wanted them gone also.

              Unfortunately Uncle Nick didn't.

2012 will be the last year for Mini and probably Anasta too.
So we are going to have a very young team.
And i wont be surprised if they sign SBW and Quade Cooper..

What a shame. I liked having Ryles at Easts. I thought he would see out his career with us.

We do lose a lot of experience, but we do have some very talented forwards coming through who I hope can have even half the career that Ryles has had in first-grade...

Its just plain whacky to bring in the Brain as a change agent and keep relics of the past Banasta and Mini whom the pace of the game has completely passed by

Surely Dollar William Williams wants to go play with a decent halves combo with a shot at a title, having said that I suppose he would be mates with Banasta from their title year

                      Wisely.

Where's the experienced quality fullback to step into Mini's shoes?
                      Answer: Nowhere to be seen.

Carney our 5/8 and goalkicker was moved on, and Anasta chosen as 5/8 and goalkicker.

Move on Anasta and Mini now?
On a misguided person would do that.

So I take it that the contract was written in stone, airtight...and if it's a lot of money and he doesn't get a contract at another club the Roosters will have to pay out his contract, every cent.
Ryles was under contract with the Roosters for two years only, that contract has expired. There was an option for another year that needed to be agreed to by both parties, but terms for a further contract could not be negotiated, leaving the club and Ryles free to go their own ways.

If they sign Cooper after what he displayed in the RWC they need their heads examined.

So Ryles wan't sacked at all.

Smithy wanted Anasta moved on BEFORE he knew Carney was going to go off the rails. In hindsight it's a good thing he didn't get his way as we'd have no 5/8 now. I've never heard anything about him trying to move Mini on, though you'd think he'd be looking for 2012 to be his last year now.

A perfect example of why coaches should not have total say.

The way Mini played at the end of the season he has one more year left in him, time to find/train his replacement.

The "New attitude, New beginning" ship still has a way to sail, one more year with captain Anasta at the helm should do it..
