    14. Mitchell
    15. Evans
    16. Nuuasala
    17. Masoe

I know there is a million other options especially on the bench.
But is this our forward pack without ryles?

Anyone else a fan of tasi in the backrow? A short ball to him 5 out? I don't want to tackle that.

I'm very much a fan of Tasi in the back row.

      • I feel like Takairangi needs to be there somewhere for us to score points next year. We look like world beaters when the offloads start to flow but I just don't see much offloading ability coming from that side. Nuuausala is the most likely offloader in the pack. JWH has one. Evans gave some brilliant offloads in NYC this year but I doubt if he makes grade he'll be playing with that much confidence. I know he's not the fittest player out there but we score a lot of tries of the back of Taka's offloads and his great footwork at the line.

        I'd have:

        8. JWH
        9. Friend
        10. Kennedy
        11. Guerra (even though I think he's better on the right)
        12. Maubs
        13. FPN

        14. Dumbrell (maybe not straight away but definitely by mid season)
        15. Masoe
        16. Takairangi
        17. Tasi

Tough not to put Cordner in there somewhere but he'll get plenty of first grade this year with injuries to our back row that are bound to happen. He's just not quite as effective as FPN or Guerra at the moment but he's a much better defender than both so who knows Smith seems to like him more than Guerra that's for sure. I also think Cherrington will be in the mix again this season on the left side. You don't keep a guy this long if he has no ability. Symonds has a massive amount of work to do before he's anywhere near the top 17 for mine.

        • The only way we will compensate for Anasta/Minichiello next year is by hurting people, and flicking the ball out the back and hoping for the best.

Anyone with an offload should walk into the side.

Sonny Bill can offload, can't he?

Ryles had an option for a third year. Our club made him an offer which he later didn`t accept, leaving him uncontracted for next year.We will owe zero make up payments on any future deals regarding Ryles.
Forget the DT, it's what Melbourne are saying. They'd know more than you, I or the DT.

Have I got it right or am I missing something in the money aspect? Dear oh dear oh dear, it must make sense to the Roosters power brokers to do this thing.
True, but if we need that extra 100k to put towards a player that would improve our chances of a shot, at being a contender next year I'm all for it. Have a little faith in the hierarchy at Bondi Junction.

It could have been $200K though that we had at our disposal.. It means we have a cap available to us $100K less than we could have and Melbourne get $100K more than the cap (lol the irony) by us paying that amount to Ryles for next year. My info is that Ryles did sign a contract for the Roosters for next season and we will be paying the $100K towards his contract. This is a clearing the decks exercise to try and sign most likely SBW.

That's just flat out weird, the 3rd year of his contract was in our favour, so we sign him and then pay him out a few months later for some small cap space to sign SBW!? Doesn't add up.

                      • The Tele is such a reliable source, even with Tok / Rothfield's absence every comment is copied and paste from various forum, throw enough darts at a dart board and you will hit the treble 20 eventually.

Much like the Dragons "alledged" interest in Carney

They will be signing the Code in the not to distant future( when the moltzen issues is finished)

The Daily Telegraph understands the decision to move him on followed a post-season review and his future has been in limbo for the past month.

Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce last night confirmed Ryles would be leaving, but was cagey when asked to provide reasons why.

"Jason and the club have reached an agreement that he won't be with us next season," Noyce said. "A decision has been made, and it has been made by mutual agreement."

Pressed on why that had suddenly happened, Noyce said: "For whatever reason, he's been given permission to talk to other clubs. I'm sure he will find a suitable club to go to."

Roosters sources said last night Ryles was choking up too much of the salary cap, having signed with them last year from French side Catalans.

The club wants to invest in younger forward leaders like Queensland Origin hopeful Martin Kennedy, Mose Masoe and New Zealand international Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, and needs to free up cap money by moving Ryles on.

For his part, Ryles is said to be unhappy about being told he wasn't part of the club's plans so late into the year with the salary cap at rival clubs already full.

Last night, he was being linked to the Dragons - his former club of nine seasons until 2008 - although the Storm have emerged as favourites to secure him.

Ryles met with Storm officials in Melbourne last week, although Craig Bellamy and his coaching staff are presently on a study trip of the US, so negotiations won't continue until next week.

"If he becomes available we will look at him but we're not doing anything until Craig and I get back late next week," Storm football manager Frank Ponissi said via text.

Ryles could not be contacted last night, nor could his manager George Mimis.
Rubbish Ryles had a two deal at the start of 2010, he was off contract!

                              • I thought Ryles was going great guns in the back end of the season; no forward in the comp was creating better second-phase play.

Still this news gives me a positive feeling; mainly because I find it hard to believe that the decision would have been made unless two things are true. Firstly that there are few qualms that Kennedy will return in fine fettle from his hoof injury. Secondly that Evans will either push for NRL selection at some stage or at least prove to be worthy back-up. With those two as an active part of the props roster, we are more than adequately stocked up front and Ryles' money may as well be used elsewhere.
