I think Jake should just take it out of everyone's hands and rule himself out after missing so much of the season. It would be the most team loving and selfless gesture. Big call I know.

This question also needs to be asked for in terms of the future. I don't know how long Sam is signed for (is he in the development squad?) but Jake is only signed up until the end of 2020. Sam can be our hooker for the next 10 years, but he won't hang around if he's not given a first grade spot.

Verrills has got us to where we are so just dump him for the GF? He’s worked so hard, is match fit, in great form and has formed good combinations. Just throw that away for Friend who can’t possibly be ready? Verrills has earned his spot and proved himself. I’d leave Friend out.“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

A month ago I was a definite that Jake should return. But now I think Sammy is giving us more in attack as his speed is much better than Jake. He is not at Jakes level in defence but he is going well enough to keep his spot. Jake has been out to long and it’s to much of a risk. His service will simply not be as sharp.

Jake will not play. Robbo is simply not ruling him out to keep some doubt in Canberra's mind about who will play. If Sam didn't ahoot the lights out at hooker like his has and we were relying on Radley it might have been another story.

I think the answer for this dilemma is much easier than looking into the future seasons. What do we do with Sam next year and onwards? Will he be happy being at North’s after the high possibility that he will get to be a grand final winner? Will Robbo let him leave to play first at another club or will Friend be told to move on? Wouldn’t want to lose any but having 2 hookers in a team is not ideal.
