What we have done today as a footy club is go BACKWARDS nothing more.
He better not be getting a first grade spot, he should be playing for newtown.
he also should be on no more than $70,000.Unbelievable !
To me, what's unbelievable is the fact that those toothless & brainless twits at $ouffs didn't chase Mortimer. They claim
to have no $$$ left in their cap but couldn't squeeze in a utility at a cut-price???

They are relying on a rookie half in Reynolds who is yet to make his NRL debut. Furthermore, they have fark all depth in their halves!

Without doubt $ouffs are the backward club.

Welcome to Bondi Junction young Morts.

      Agree.

You know this talk of him being a 2nd grader, well if thats by the standard of Steven K, his record at club level isnt so flash. Like a lot here "m prepared to give him a shot and hopefully he proves a good signing.

      • Found a clip on youtube on his slashing try. He is fairly quick for someone supposedly slow

        • And his match sealing try to get the eels into the GF

          • So, today we signed a slower 'white' version of Sandow lol.

Wasn't he on around $250 large at Parra? Even us paying half of that is too much.
Lazarus still unsigned at the Jets?
Our halves depth is not too flash though. The 20's kids not up to first grade standard yet.

Morts could surprise, but I doubt it. Time will tell.
Could turn out a "Conn" signing instead of a "Vautin" signing.

Bringing home Jacob Miller from the Tigpies would have been cheaper!

But now I'm actually really excited, he's still young and he has something to prove like Carney did in 2010, he'll definitely be grateful and give us his 100% commitment and effort. Great decision by Roosters recruitment..
Geez! You sure know how to back a loser...Firstly you're backing Cooper all through the RWC even though the whole world was witnessing how crap he was and now your backing Mortimer, a reserve grader who couldn't get a look in at the 2nd last team in the comp. Sure they might have a good game or two in their career but it doesn't prove either player will be of any benefit to us. You must have crystal ball to give you such confidence or I'll have what your smokin....

The Sydney Roosters have secured the services of Daniel Mortimer for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan believes Mortimer will be a valuable asset to the club.

"Daniel suits the Roosters style of play and ]b] with his ability to play five eighth or halfback, we see him playing a key utility role, adding great depth to our halves alongside the likes of Braith Anasta and Mitchell Pearce. [/b]

"Daniel is widely regarded as a quality person on and off the footy field and we are looking forward to watching him develop as part of our team over the coming seasons."
                #####

So, he'll be playing for Newtown in 2012...as Anasta is the chosen 5/8 [Carney released], and Pearce our no1 halfback?
Then 5/8 in 2013 if Anasta's contract is not renewed or he retires?

Can't imagine his contract is a big one at this stage.
If he was a good player before, he can be a good player again.

Yes, as someone mentioned in this thread already...'second year syndrome' was part of his 'demise'...coaches spend off-season with video player their best friend, and soon work out how to combat 'genius first-year talent'.

                • First time poster, life time rooster tragic, for what its worth I think it is a solid signing, Anasta and Pierce are only one injury away from leaving us up sh*t creek without a paddle.

                        Welcome.

What you said is exactly correct.

"New attitude - New beginning"...and we simply cannot afford to be signing any more 'bad boys'.

Reading O'Sullivan's comments I can see him playing off the bench in a utility role.

                            • So the competition for that role giving Friend a rest is now Mortimer and Mitchell?

And the halves pairing is set as Banasta/Mortimer
