I'm so sick of idiots who continually talk up our current half who in 4 years has done SFA.

So on the negative side, he goes off into oblivion without tarnishing the clubs reputation and providing us with a bit of depth and giving newtown another selection headache.... I cant see a downside there.

On the upside, we have signed a young half who has it all to prove and from all reports has his mind set on doing just that. Say what you like about his 2009 gf form but the fact of the matter is that the kid was one of the vital cogs in that parra side in that run to the finals and he definitely put together some special performances irrespective of the hayne factor. if you could equate carney to hayne, then mortimer was just as influential for parra as say SKD or pearce was for us as second fiddle to carney imo which will do me just fine. The excuses about the set-up at parra, the constant changing of the halves and backline combinations and the poor form/coaching have been said to death so i wont go there again but as i have said, i cant appreciate the downside. We either get the best out of him and he becomes our long-term 5/8 along with that of NSW or he goes into oblivion without taking up too much cap space or causing our club any bad press.

Good work POS I say. With smithy, elliott and JT at the healm who have a reputation for getting the best out of players and all have had pretty good coaching and playing careers, he couldnt have better support/a better environment in which to get back to his best.

And on a side note about mitchell, anyone who honestly thinks he is some discard is delusional. the kid was rated as equally good as jake friend when they were young with mitchell being a year older and his game complements friend's perfectly. Again a young player who has the natural ability and seems to be benefiting from a change of scenery. With some hard work in the offseason, a few of these kids like mortimer, mitchell, bosden and tagive in particular could be anything. they all have the natural ability and have proven to be up to the challenge in first grade to varying capacities so who knows. I think the club is doing the right thing. Time will tell but for now, we should get behind him until his actual performances warrant such criticisms
      Well said Roz, agree totally!

we have zero to lose. we are paying him peanuts, he is taking up virtually no cap space and its not like there is anyone else of value we could fill it with anyway and he will not misbehave off the field. If he comes good, we are laughing all the way to the bank. As much as i dislike jamie soward, his move to st george i liken a lot to that of mortimer to us. 2 young players with plenty of natural ability who have been stuffed around by their clubs (parra and roosters) and finally let go only to go on and flourish at their new clubs. Only difference is mortimer has achieved more/played better in first grade than soward ever did at the same stage of his career. It could be genius

made a gf and played in a side that has been up and down the table like a yo-yo, played under 3 or 4 different coaches (most of whom were useless) and playing with guys who could not have been a worse influence on a kid starting out a career but who cares. the argument is getting old and its only a sour few that are continuing the anti-pearce crusade. most have seen the light or at least accepted that there are pretty much no halves his age or younger who are better anyway

              the old sales saying

"be careful of buying something cheap as it will cost you long run"

this came to mind when i read we signed mortimer.

Alright defence then, i at least think Pearce puts the effort in, just cannot execute

I heard the Rooster offered Pearce's service to the Libyan rebels in their hunt for Ghadaffi, if they had of accepted Ghadaffi would still be alive because Mitch fails to EXECUTE

Lets keep our fingers crossed. As you point out either way it is a win/win situation. I just hope our supporters can get behind the kid before completely writing him off.

In an earlier post in this thread Big Mike made an excellent point about the situation at Parramatta. They are a desperate club and it is not surprising they are fast to abandon the next great hope if success does not come quickly and easily.

Even Soward played Origin and won a premiership and won a wcc

In 10 pin Bowling Mitch would be the 7 pin, the last one standing

I don't care who he's played for, it's what he does for the RWB that counts and he's done SFA.

You sound like you know all about league, you must have achieved a lot in the game to critisize! Who was it you played for?? Playing in the Nrl is a fair achievement in it self. Playing in 2010 grand final at 21 for the RWB is a great achievement!! Which team was it you played for??
