The Sydney Roosters have secured the services of Daniel Mortimer for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Mortimer, 22, will join the Roosters from the Parramatta Eels who have granted him a release.
Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan believes Mortimer will be a valuable asset to the club.
"Daniel suits the Roosters style of play and with his ability to play five eighth or halfback, we see him playing a key utility role, adding great depth to our halves alongside the likes of Braith Anasta and Mitchell Pearce.
"Daniel is widely regarded as a quality person on and off the footy field and we are looking forward to watching him develop as part of our team over the coming seasons."
A Dally M Rookie of the Year finalist in 2009, Mortimer's recruitment is in line with the Roosters policy of signing young players with whom the team can grow.
Mortimer will officially join the Roosters when the squad begins pre-season training next month.

If he has come cheap, why not sign him. this is a young kid with a point to prove. he has talent, he was a key part of the Parra side that got to the GF in 2009 so the talent is there. I guess it is just the opportunity that is needed.
Aside from that, we are now increasing the stable of Former players Sons, Started with guru's boy now Juniors now Mortimers son........Isn't siro's young boy playing for melb, maybe we can get him in, then try for the Morris twins.

At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

The fireworks at the Easter show are making more noise than the crowd tonight
Parra made him a scapegoat when they have much bigger problems. The whole squad is shithouse, and Kearney is a dud coach, as was Anderson before him. He was a popular target because of the whole off-season signing bs. Too much pressure to put on a young half. The position of a halfback at Parra is a poisoned chalice ever since Sterling retired.
The kid was hit with 2nd year syndrome. He is not as bad as some make out.
Sure, he was overhyped by the media partly due to his name and his appearance, but lets not forget - he had a cracker of a first season.
Considering, he wouldn't be on great cash, it is a great signing for a club struggling with halves depth.
