No doubt he will give his all.

But that is exactly the problem.

His all is not much, his all isn't good enough for first grade.

We will now have two players who are nice guys but can't play - anasta and Mortimer.

I am sure most of you were laughing at parra & Mortimer during the year but now all of a sudden because he's signed with us, many of you think he's a saviour, a promising young player etc. Same with sharks fans, all year laughing about carney & as soon as he has now signed with sharks they are falling over themselves in excitement.

He sounds like a really decent guy and I for one say Welcome!! I hope that he exceeds expectations and no matter what he will not be our worst player!! Agree that he was not the only reason Eels performed so poorly in 2011. Bear in mind that the Eels were only 1 or 2 tries off winning most of the season!!

He is shite, that bad in fact he helped the eels to a grandfinal in his debut year. Obviously your an accomplished footballer yourself, who did you play for?

            So would I.

I meant why I'm a fan of Smith's... ie. my user name. Didn't see any need to justify being a fan of Easts!

Fred68 doesn't have time to play football, he has a full time job bagging our coach and players.

Speaking from experience is his strong point.

You do have a good point, bagging smith is a fulltime job in itself, he gives us so much material to bag him about.

Who can forget that he thought Mateo was a reserve grader. Same with tonga.

I wonder why Jamie Lyon ran out of the parra club back years ago now.

Untrue. He considered Mateo a project player and lent him to the London Broncos for a year. As if Smith would have gone to the trouble if he didn't rate him... he hardly baulks at cutting players. Mateo has admitted more than once that his attitude back then was terrible and he was about 10kg overweight among other issues.

Tonga was also highly regarded, but he had a couple of rep centres ahead of him and the Dogs offered excellent coin. Not saying Smith didn't make a mistake in letting him go, but to claim he thought he was a reserve grader is simply wrong.

I reckon he's a great buy, he was brilliant for the Eels in 2009 so we know he has the ability. He'll be a star for us, very happy.

Not saying Mortimer doesn't though, but im kind of doubting it at the moment.
It was pretty obvious the work they did in the off-season had a lot to do with their improvement. Their style of footy changed and their game awareness and skill set increased. No doubt Morts will be given plenty to work on before next season. But I agree there's only so far any player can go without a certain amount of innate talent, especially in the halves.

No honestly he seems like a great kid and I think he'll be a great player for us!! Go the Roosters!

Don't hate the bloke. Looks like a decent guy but if this the best we can recruit, then we obviously don't have any pulling power when it comes to recruiting the biggest names, not that that always worked but at least it gave us a lot to look forward to. I don't buy into the 'Has plenty to prove' crap. If he didn't prove it there, then nothing tells me he will do it here though i wait to be proven wrong.
