Agree with most of this, Cooper Cronk is a robotic and somewhat manufactured player under a good coach, handy to have in a rep side but doesn't add the x factor. Mortimer strikes me as a player in the same mould, hopefully Smith can give him the confidence to get his job done and let the games begin!

Wise words Ray, bring on 2012!

He will also fit into Smith's prefered style of playing with the second-phase plays etc. I think Mortimer will fit in well with the style of football the team played in the last 6 games of the year. Strong forward play with good second phase play - similar to the way Parramatta played in 2009. Only difference is we need a Jarryd Hayne style player too!
Id dare to add......the presence of one Craig Fitzgibbon working with these young blokes, including Mortimer, could make the difference.

But that is exactly the problem.

His all is not much, his all isn't good enough for first grade.

We will now have two players who are nice guys but can't play - anasta and Mortimer.
You must be on drugs, Anasta is playing awesome footy. I was shattered when he signed for the roosters but he has made me swallow a large piece of humble pie

Which game was that and what year?? We certainly have not got value for money from this guy, he is not a game breaker, he panics under pressure and is soooooooo slow.

He should do the right thing by the club and retire and let the young guys have a go - If it is good enough for Donovan McNab (13 season NFL Quarterback) to be dropped for poor form and replaced by a 1st game rookie, then I can't see why the same can't happen for Anasta. Doesn't matter how consistently average/bad this guy plays he always gets picked.

In six seasons with the Roosters I would be flat out coming up with 10 games where he has single handedly won a game for us as a "top shelf" 5/8 should. In fact Todd Carney won more games by himself in one season (2010) than Anasta has in 6. Sure all the Anasta fans will say "but he scored a try in every game of the finals in 2010" - but go back and have a look at them and 90% were set up by Carney.

Anasta should stick to golf and Fox Sports.

Better than when Carney tweeted he wanted to be a rooster for life when the opposite was obviuously the case.

Therein lies your problem, "single handedly", last time I checked Rugby League is a team sport and solid efforts weak in, weak out, on and off the field are invaluable. That is what makes a top shelf 5/8. Defence, the last ditch efforts on the try line etc Criticism is unwarranted. I do agree however that if there is a "rookie" out there in our juniors tearing up the football world then he should start getting a taste of first grade however, I am unaware that we have a "rookie" of that calibre at present.

Not saying Mortimer doesn't though, but im kind of doubting it at the moment.

Im really excited about his attitude. That is a great first impression. He will be a good back-up for our havles, espically during the rep period.

He is sweet, nice and doesn't come with some prima donna complex. That's good enough for me. Hopefully Smith can give the boy some confidence.
