ill go with freddy if i had to name one. basically he did it all himself, cronk, teddy, joined a team who were finals regulars except 16. sbw came with maloney, jennings but the team was young and probably on the cusp of something but those big names took us all the way . when freddy joined despite the fact the team had improved massively in 95 under gould, freddy was just that classy touch who could also help attract top quality talent. we sunk like a stone post his retirement, missed the 8 after 3 gfs, when sbw left we still finished minor prems. not being arrogant here , but i doubt very much we will miss the 8 next year without cronk. but ive been wrong before.

I look at a player that could work in any team over the last 50 years, I think Freddie fits the criteria the best. I don’t think Cronk or SBW would have fitted in as well in the 70s and same for artie in the 2000s, Fittlers attitude could work in any era.
